We came here for the Spirit Celebration Crown Jubilee cheer competition. The "neighborhood" was fabulous and had allot within walking distance. The availability of great restaurants within walking distance would make this a great convention center for visitors flying in. The local architecture was beautiful and the outside atmosphere couldn't have been better. That's where the glowing review ends and the critiquing begins. The actual faculty was in fair condition at best. I do not know the age of the facility but it definately has not been "kept up" very well. My second complaint was the availability of healthy food and drinks... It was virtually non existent! Next, the number of food and drink vendors that were closed was very upsetting -about 90% of the food carts were closed! Families that had multiple children competing at different levels were at the convention for over 14 hours and had only a choice of (what I consider) carnival food- soda, nachos, candy and hotdogs. This was somewhat disappointing...then to add insult to injury, the convention center visually advertised the enticing food that was NOT available ...the healthy organic popcorn (with a variety of all natural flavors), Dippin Dots ice cream, a few smoothie stands, as well as fresh fruit and yogurt that the concession stand advertised but failed to provide. Lastly, the Wi-Fi was poor at best. I have Sprint for my cell phone provider so my ability to get online( inside of thick walled places such as the convention center) is dependent upon Wi-Fi. originally, I gave this place Three stars however I decided to drop my rating down to 2 stars when I received a pop up informing me I could upgrade to a better Wi-Fi (by credit card) for $79!...
Read moreI’m convinced the last week in July is the best time to be at the Fort Worth Convention Center. During the past 30 + years, the convention center has hosted a free event that the whole family can enjoy. For those who can't see, hear or walk the event gives priority seating to you and your family members. You can bring the whole crew and make the Fort Worth Convention Center your summer vacation destination. I've taken the local bus of which many routes stop directly in front of the convention center. You don't need a car, especially since parking downtown is mainly for office workers or out of town travelers unaware of the alphabet parking spots at the meters. Forget the high priced snacks, instead bring a picnic lunch and sit at the cool water garden right out the rear exits. You can also stroll down Main street to the Cheesecake Factory for one of many great places to take in a dessert. Within 50 feet of the front entrance to the convention center is a memorial of the city's historic visit of President Kennedy. If you want more shopping options at lunch, Sundance is in walking distance as well. Next year make plans to spend the last week in July at the Fort Worth Convention Center. It's a free week full of events for the whole family and dress is casual. It will be the best thing your family can...
Read moreMy husband and I attended North Crowley High School's graduation ceremony on Sunday, May 26, 2019. One of our granddaughters graduated. Terrible experience! Word of advice: Be prepared to spend $$$. The parking garage charged $25 to park. The parking lot across the street charged $ 20. We parked in the $ 20 lot. You have to have the correct change or a credit card. You insert the money into this machine and it prints outa ticket. We took our ticket and headed to the convention center. Thought we were done with the parking lot. Not yet! Thankfully there were two kind ladies that informed us that the ticket had to be placed on the inside dash of the vehicle. Had we not done this, our vehicle would have been towed, plus, it would have cost us an extra $ 200 or more to get it back!! Then, we had to wait about an hour before we were allowed to go inside. We were all pretty miserable in this 97° Texas heat!! When the other doors were finally opened,pe people stampeeded in. What a mess! Another issue. People were holding seats for friends and family. My husband allerted a staff person and he immediately handled the situation! We suddenly had good seats!! Thank you staff person. Horrible experience !...
