I love soul food but sometimes don’t feel like cooking it and I’ve been looking for a local spot. I love supporting, black and woman owned businesses. The food was really good. I got the two meat plate with the pot roast and chicken wings. The chicken was very good and the roast was very tender. I just wish it had gravy on the roast. I also got a vegetable plate with macaroni, red beans, and rice and yams. The ribs and rice was actually very good. The yams were very good. Nice texture just a little sweet. I couldn’t quite put my hand on what that extra sweet was. The macaroni honestly was very disappointing. There was hardly any cheese and the cheese that was there tasted like Velveeta. It didn’t really give soul food. Also decided to try the banana pudding, which also I just didn’t enjoy. It had a very strong banana flavor on the pudding which I like banana banana pudding and bananas, but the flavor on the pudding smelt very artificial and tasted very artificial. It smelled like one of those scented school erasers that they have different cents for and it also tasted like a banana popsicle. The cornbread was good, but it tasted like jiffy which I don’t mind. The collard greens were really good I will definitely be back and I know what to get and what...
Read moreI recently visited Toni’s Soul Food and was thoroughly impressed. The food overall was delicious, with generous portion sizes that make it a great value. The service was outstanding, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the dining experience even better.
The atmosphere is classy and carries a genuine Louisiana vibe, adding a unique charm to the place. As for the food, the catfish was excellent—perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. The meatloaf was also delicious and very satisfying. The greens were a definite standout, cooked perfectly and packed with great taste.
A couple of items could be improved. The yams seemed like they might have been sitting in the warmer a bit too long, and the banana pudding wasn’t quite what I was hoping for, I would have loved to see real bananas incorporated for added freshness and texture.
On the bright side, the Kool-Aid was fantastic, a fun, nostalgic touch that was super refreshing.
Despite a couple of minor misses, I would absolutely recommend Toni’s Soul Food. The wonderful service, flavorful dishes, and vibrant atmosphere make it well...
Read moreYou know you've hit gold when a wrong turn leads you to an unexpected place! That's exactly what happened with Toni's Soul Food. I stumbled upon it and ended up returning two days in a row – and for good reason. Let me tell you, not all soul food truly feeds the soul, but Toni's absolutely does. The food is simply delicious, with that undeniable taste of "Naw'lins" shining through every bite. My first visit was for the smothered pork chops, and they were incredible. The next day, I had to come back for the meatloaf, which was equally phenomenal. The restaurant's atmosphere is a vibe in itself. You'll hear "grown folks music" playing in the background, setting a perfect, relaxed mood. It's clear the place is clean and welcoming, and the staff is genuinely polite, courteous, and accommodating. Portion sizes are great too, and yes, they even offer the classic red Kool-Aid! Both experiences were fantastic. I'll definitely be back, and I highly recommend you make a point to visit Toni's Soul Food....
