Last night around 7:30 pm my husband and I showed up at the Ft. Mitchell, KY location of Guthrie's Chicken. We are seniors (he is in his 80's and I am in my 70's). We were very hungry and were looking forward to a good meal. It was pouring rain so we were trying to get inside out of the downpour. We were met by a female employee who I assume was the manager. She rushed past us and began locking the entrance doors. I thought this was strange behavior, especially since Guthrie's advertise a closing time of 9:00 pm. We go to the counter and wait our turn to order behind several other people. Their orders are taken and the cashier disappears. Next I see her working the drive thru window. She sees me standing there waiting at the counter but I get ignored for 10 to 15 minutes. Finally she comes over and starts to take my order. At this time the employee who seemed to be the manager came over to the cashier and was whispering something to her, and then promptly disappeared again. The cashier said "My manager said we are not taking any more orders due to technical difficulties." Let me add here that there were people in the store waiting for their carryout orders as well as a long line of cars in the drive thru receiving orders. I was very upset when she told us we would have to leave, especially after having to wait so long, without any food, and during a downpour! Needless to say, we will never be back to Guthrie's. Maybe it is just me but I think that whole experience...
Read moreWe wanted to try Guthrie’s since we heard they would soon be adding a location in Independence near our home. The menu and options are similar to Raising Cane’s. We went with the snack box, and added a Texas toast at the employees suggestion. The menu and window flair boast of the fresh brewed tea. I grew up in the south and love iced tea, so we got a couple of iced teas as well. The chicken was good, flavorful and fresh, the fries were good, the dipping sauce is very similar to Cane’s sauce which is a good thing. I found the Texas toast to be too greasy and also tasted a bit burnt. Cane’s wins there.
The worst part was the tea, both our teas tasted sour and had the nasty turned tea taste to them, they also had so little ice it had melted within a minute of driving away. As a tea drinker it’s like rolling dice, you never know what you’re going to get, especially the further north you go. I think a lot of places serve poor quality tea because while they brew fresh tea they then just pour it into a container containing old spoiled tea, ruining the whole batch. Or they just don’t make any fresh and keep serving old spoiled tea. One of these was the case here at Guthrie’s. The nasty tea kind of soured the whole experience, pun intended. If you’re going to offer iced tea and claim it’s fresh brewed and amazing then it should not taste sour, stale and old. If you want to compete with Cane’s then you should know their tea is fresh and...
Read moreEvery time I go and order from here something ends up missing(I don’t go often) from the order. Went through the drive thru today and ordered two box meals, asked for extra ranch cups at the speaker. I wasn’t sure if she heard me or not so once I got to the window I asked again if she got she said no and added it on to the order. I paid and left. Got all the way home and no ranch. I have 2 very picky kids who will only eat Guthrie’s if they have the ranch with it. Called them to let them know about what happened and explained to them that I don’t come there very often, the girl said she would add the 2 ranch cups on to another order, I explained to her that it was aggravating and not the point. Didn’t offer anything for the trouble, just continued to give a very un empathetic apology. Didn’t go much before and definitely will no be back after this. I will drive to the Florence location if need be. At least I know I will get...
