My recent visit to McDonald's was in summery everything wrong with the food and service industry today. If you continue reading beyond this point I will breakdown my experience and reasoning for my review, be warned it will be extensive.
I work late into the evening and often find myself in need of a quick meal. I know fast food of this variety is incredibly unhealthy and I should prepare a healthy meal myself and take it to work, but sometimes you are weak and want a spicy sandwich and a Dr pepper. This evening was one of those times. I have used the McDonald's mobile app several times and I typically get decent results but sometimes there is a long wait or the restaurant seems to have lost your order. To my best reasoning this seems to have been what happened.
So I am preparing to take a dinner break at work and I decide place an order on my app to pick up at the near by McDonald's. I've done this a few times and never taken a long time to get my order and come back to work. Tonight I sat in the pick up zone for 25 minutes while the workers apparently made my order and gave it to someone else. After waiting for 18 minutes I was frustrated enough to ask an employee about my order when they were outside serving other customers. The employee seemed to have noticed that I had been waiting in one of their reserved spots for nearly 20 minutes and not been helped yet. When I told this employee about my order they said they recognized the order and thought someone else was given it. I was not pleased to hear that the order I paid for and waited nearly 20 minutes for had been taken by someone else and McDonald's was pleased to just let me wait there not knowing. The employee told me they would go and reprepare the order and bring it out to me right away, I asked at this point how much longer I would need to wait and they promised to bring it out right away. I should have at this point asked to speak with a manager but I've never actually been so upset to make myself a Karen before and didn't feel up to it this time having already wasted most of my break time. After about 5 minutes my order was brought out to me and the employee again said they believed someone else had taken the order and they then apologized to me for the wait time. I appreciate the thought but an apology doesn't return to me my wasted time.
Now as you have seen my experience I will share with you my feelings on the service provided. It was terrible. I've worked in the service industry in some variety for all of my professional life so I know a little bit a out what I am saying. What could McDonald's do to improve this situation? Well not making the mistake aside, most fast food places had a policy of offering a free item along with the order or a discount on the next visit. The latter of which is actually a very smart business move to ensure future visits and sales. Additionally a manager should be the one to offer the apology and offer the small form of compensation. Places that pride themselves on their quality service will actually refund the entire meal. But as we see today these places don't care about quality or service. While I won't be visiting McDonald's anymore I have no idea in my mind that it will have any impact on a massive company's bottom line I hope this review will be helpful to you the reader. What I hope is that people who wish to see good service return to the restaurants they frequent will join me in boycotting places with terrible service. Together we can impact the bottom line of the massive corporations who...
Read moreI ordered a $10 bundle deal which comes with 20pc nuggets 2 cheese burgers 2 medium fries. When we got home we discovered a bone in one of the nuggets. It was late so we trashed the food and went to bed. I called in the morning and spoke to a worker there and she apologized and said she was going to put my name on a list for a free meal. Fast forward to about 6pm that night I go back to the store and give my name and say I was put on a list to get a free meal. Maria the manager asked what happened I explained and she asked who I spoke to and i didn't have the ladies name so she asked me to hold on so she could make a call was gone for about 1 minute and came back and said "thats a negative" I said excuse me she said I called both the morning and night manager and they said they had no idea about my claim. Mind you this was all at the drive thru window because the store is closed for renovations. I asked her can we discuss this in person and she said yes but the answer is still going to be no. I pulled around and first thing I did was verify the phone number and she did and I showed her my phones call log proving that I did call then my wife pulled up the pictures she took of it and she could have cared less and said the policy was you have to bring the food back. At this point I am so upset but still speaking to her respectfully and she is acting as if I am waisting her time and I'm lying about this. After I tell her this is horrible customer service. She says I can feel how I want to feel. So I say I'll be right back with the nugget and the bone. I return to the drive thru. Ask for Maria and tell her I have the nugget with the bone she tells me to pull around. At this point she is not even coiming to the window she had one of the workers take the nugget and he almost cursed saying "oh shhhhh" and covered his mouth and took it to her, she acts completely un-phased and walked over never apologized or anything just asked me my information and said the insurance company will be in contact with me. I left and started to drive to the McDonald's on mesa ridge and was so disgusted by the the whole situation that I pulled out of the drive thru and went to taco bell where I was asked why I look so upset by the lady at the register and I explained my issue I had with mcdonalds and she got her manager and the manager gave me some food saying taco bell would never make me bring the food in not would I be treated that poorly(I can see she was being self serving in wanting me to come to taco bell but it made me feel good)by far the worst experience I have ever had at...
Read moreIf I were you, I'd either go to a different McDonalds or just eat a local privately owned food business. To start off, the drive-thru is constantly busy, guess that's good for business, the wait is just killing everyone including myself, promise you'll have to wait at least ten full minutes to actually move, this is all day every day. The employees, some are nice while the rest I tend to question why they're hired in the first place. There's one manager, Chelsea is her name, can be a bit rude sometimes, including this one really big fat black girl who's name I forgot, assuming she doesn't work there anymore because I don't see her anymore. The food, regardless, is always disgusting and it's very rare it tastes fresh, fries always taste like soggy potato chips but during the lunch rush is when it's partially fresh. The meat always tastes in between, whether good or bad. They don't know how to package the sandwiches properly and sometimes the food is just thrown in the bag, spilling all over the place. Whenever you want something made a special way, they always mess up and force you to park for god knows how long, sometimes they mess it up again, at the least the general manager had the decency to write up a free meal ticket for us. Never order McCafe drinks because they seriously don't know how to make them the McDonalds way and their machine is always breaking thus forcing me to either get a refund or order something else. At least they get the ice cream right, on rare occasions. That lobby, only ate there a few times, always looks gross, not sure why but it's like eating in a trash can sometimes. They really need new large cups because those soda versions aren't doing it for me, we need the ones that match the sweet tea cups like back in the day. Oh, they don't know how to count nuggets, always missing a few, one day they put too many in one box. The kids meals, not enough fries, have forgot the toys a couple times, not enough sodas in the cups so order the small or medium sizes for your little ones. The breakfast, it's either good or bad, not enough condiments, never enough cream/sugar in the coffees, sometimes the bread products are burnt as well as the bacon, never order the big breakfast because those lids never stay in place henceforth everything spills out all over the bag. At least the chicken products taste decent including the salad. So, coming here, it's your choice, but in this area I'd rather go to the other franchises surrounding this toilet hole they call...
