Hi!! We came here today as a family of 6 first thing I noticed was that we had to go to the counter and order, no big deal it’s normal, my husband is ordering and I noticed there are no high chair/ booster seats for the little ones I have a 3 and 1 year old, so that was a little chaotic with them trying to feed them and also feed our selves, my husband jended up going get my 1 y/o stroller to put her in so she can eat out that in the mean time of that my family and I didn’t notice. That the soda machine was working quit properly and I the soda was very flat and tasted like old soda!
So we have gone to other Indian food restaurants before, and when we order we typically order the same things, same amount this time here at this Location this was our first time here, and we were kinda shocked, so each entree comes with rice, we ordered 3 entrees and put all our our rice in one bowl, they said that that was all 3 orders in one bowl. And I looked around and other customers had 1 entree with the SAME exact bowl and amount, which that confused me because if All of our 3 entrees come with rice why are we only getting ONE bowl of rice for 3 entrees, and then my husband order 2 different kind on naan which were good but again put it all all into one serving bowl So not even sure about that either and then the main entrees it’s was packed with sauce and very little meat, we did ask for one of entree to not be spicy for our 1&3 year and they still some how managed to make it a medium spice even though we asked for no spicy!! I am speaking from experience where I have ordered and it came with plenty of meet and sauce, this place was very little meat and lots of sauce,
When we visit other reasturants mind you we order the same thing no matter what reasturant we go to, we spend no more then 55-60$ and we have a very generous amount of food, customer service, high chairs and just a family oriented interaction, This place on the ther hand we spend 85$$ and had horrible soda, no valid customer service, no accommodations for our little babies, AND my husband I definitely feel know/feel We got way less for our money than what we were supposed to get!! I mean the soda alone is almost 4$ am they can I’m paper cups small paper cups at that, we wont be driving back for this one...
Read moreI don’t usually leave reviews, but this place is so good I’m willing to risk becoming “that person” who gushes about their favorite restaurant online. And let’s be honest—I’m not just doing this out of the goodness of my heart. I want Guru’s Indian Kitchen to be packed every night so they never go out of business, and I can keep eating here forever!
Living near Power Rd, I’ve watched new restaurants pop up like weeds over the past couple of years. Most have wilted in my estimation, including another Indian spot further south. So, when Guru’s opened, I braced myself for disappointment—and was absolutely delighted to be proven wrong. In the last six weeks, I’ve eaten here four times. If that’s not commitment, I don’t know what is.
Let’s talk ambiance. The indoor space is small, but the spacious patio is a whole vibe—tables, couches, and string lights that make you feel like you’re at a backyard party, minus the awkward small talk. Inside, there’s a stunning full bar, stocked from floor to ceiling and accented with colorful bar chairs.
Ordering is casual: you order at the counter, then sit back and let the magic happen. It’s not technically full-service, but it feels like it. Your food arrives on real dishes (no sad Styrofoam here), and the staff is so friendly and attentive, you’ll wonder if you accidentally wandered into a five-star restaurant. They check in about your meal, clear your empty plates, and provide to-go boxes.
Now, the main event—the food! I’ve sampled the chicken tikka masala (mild), lamb vindaloo (mild), chicken biryani, garlic naan, and tamarind chutney. Picking a favorite is like choosing a favorite child, but if I had to, I’d go with the lamb vindaloo. The proteins are tender and plentiful—no mysterious chicken bits here. The tikka masala is all flavor, no fire; the vindaloo brings a gentle kick; and the biryani is a flavor explosion with a bit of heat.
In short: Guru’s Indian Kitchen is the kind of place you’ll want to keep secret, but it’s just too good not to share. Go, eat, enjoy—and...
Read moreDelicious Indian food! I got the goat masala and it was easily the most flavorful and spiced curry I’ve had in Arizona. Had enough heat, I got “hot” but it was well balanced and had lots of flavor from the other spices. The meat was cooked perfectly, tender and juicy as well. It was a touch black cardamom heavy, which if you’re unfamiliar has a taste similar to ginger mixed with black licorice, so keep that in mind before ordering that specific dish. I really enjoyed it though! We also got the chicken tandoori, which was cooked well and very tender. Would recommend a side of some type of sauce to got with it though, such as chutney or riatia.
I would also suggest to the restaurant to add a description to the menu of each item so people know exactly what they’re ordering. Overall though, it’s a great place to have in the far...
