This place is every adult volleyball player's dream bar. They have leagues, tournaments, drop in, all on site and there are ALWAYS enough courts for everyone. Seriously, there are so many courts. The sand is amazing, so soft and kept nice and deep on the courts and not dusty. There are even outdoor showers for the hot days when you're sweaty and covered in sand from digs and dives. I love that I can wash my feet or whole body if needed.
THERE IS SO MUCH SEATING. Seriously, you'll never hurt for a place to hang out because there is such a huge variety of seating options everywhere. The bathrooms were clean apart from being a little sandy, which is to be expected, but I saw staff constantly sweeping up sand everywhere inside. You can tell everyone who works there likes their job. They're clearly being treated well by their employers. They play music loud enough to enjoy, but nowhere is it so loud that you can't be heard when speaking. There's also a neat bar counter on the patio with stools so you can enjoy your refreshments while watching some matches.
The bistro is the perfect accompaniment to a day of volleyball in the sun. Nothing is fried. Nothing. My husband and I split their steak nachos and still couldn't finish it. It was so good and soooo cheesey. We loved it. They had so many other food options, but the salads looked particularly amazing.
The frozen margs are bomb af. The bar staff were incredibly polite and attentive. In addition to the bar inside, there are also two outside, so we never had to wait for drinks.
I think my favorite part about this place is how comfortable I felt right away despite never having been before. As a woman, it can be a risk to wear the things that are most comfortable for us when playing beach volleyball because we're often objectified when we do. That didn't happen here. Not once. In fact, I was surprised by the number of women wearing just sports bras or bathing suit tops and some even in volleyball briefs. At one point I needed to change because the temperature dropped in the evening and for the first time anywhere, I felt completely comfortable taking off my tank top and putting on my hoodie. No one batted an eye. I of course had on a sports bra underneath, but it can still be intimidating. But even if something did get out of hand, they have private security on site. I really loved that.
Honestly, I think anyone can enjoy this place. Lots of kids were present during their parents' tournaments during the day and they all seemed to enjoy the jumbo Jenga and connect 5 sets available to them to play with at their leisure. It was a very family friendly environment during the day. In the evenings, it's obviously more geared towards adults.
Overall, I really enjoyed my day here and will definitely be back the next time I'm in CO Springs. Give it a visit, you won't be...
Read moreTLDR; don’t host parties here. The manager sucks, but the bartender is really nice!
We hosted a military going away there. Even from the first planning conversation with the manager, she was rude. We should’ve stopped there, but we kept going. When we got there the place was EMPTY. Our whole party wasn’t even there, but she came over to the area we rented and handed us the ball and said your time starts now.
For the volleyball courts they were nice but hot. It was a particularly hot day, so someone in the party asked about spraying the sand. We weren’t informed that this was something we did ourselves (not much of volleyball players). When I finally went up to ask she then informed us they were short staffed so “you do it.” That’s fine, it just would’ve been nice to know instead of wasting time.
When we asked about the room, she said we had to either clear out or be forced to pay another $150. There was only one other group there on the other side of the place, so we were confused because people were still buying food and drinks. We weren’t just wasting space, but okay. So we move outside. I went to go clarify this with her, but she was no where to be found. The bartender was busy and they were the only two people working, so after about 5 min of waiting I walked away.
As we leave I talk to the bartender about where to leave the bar and he said to leave it with the manager up front. I tell him she’s not there so he has to go and find her. She comes out and says that since we didn’t return the ball within the 1 hour limit that she’d have to charge us for two hours. I try telling her that I tried multiple times to come talk to her but she was no where to be found but she wasn’t having it. I told her we left the room when she told us to, but she said we didn’t tell her so there was nothing she could do. She said the best she could do was 1.75 hours for the room. I asked if we could do the one hour room and just the 45 min court. She said no, they came together.
I understand if this place had people around waiting. Even if they had a few more groups around. But it was just us in one spot and the other group under the tent.
The food wasn’t great, but the drinks were really good. The bartender helped when he could and we appreciated that. Definitely not going back there any time soon for a...
Read moreI went here last Saturday for a tournament. The tournament was very, very, disorganized. None of the teams knew where to play and the skill levels were not evenly matched up. We signed up as a B level team and played four A level teams and got crushed.
Later in the day, we were told by a tournament official to play on a certain court. The owner/manager then comes over to yell at us and treat us disrespectfully because we were on the wrong court. He was rude and has a short fuse, even when his own tournament officials told us to play on the wrong court.
EDIT AFTER OWNER RESPONSE: Although the owner says we “broke protocol” moving courts, the paper bracket the tournament director left on our table said to play on the court where the private party was located. We also played on three different courts throughout the duration of the tournament, same as all of the other teams in our division did. We played on our “assigned court” for 2 of the 5 games. There was zero signage stating there was a private party. Chaos ensues when the place of business doesn’t properly run a large event and allows anyone to play on any court. We were also literally informed by this tournament director that As and Bs were mixed together. So it was less of A teams playing down to win and more of just overall disorganization. It would also help to have more signage around the courts rather than just yellow painted numbers on the poles. IVP needs business competition to hold them accountable, especially seeing the numerous negative reviews all talking about the...
