My wife and I visited Tokyo Joes (9131 S. Broadway, Highlands Ranch) on Sunday January 20th, and were extremely disappointed with the value for the money aspect. Tokyo Joe's creates the illuison of a big bowl meal by filling the bowl with rice and only a few meager small chunks of chicken and vegetables that you can hardly find. Insult to injuty? - they charge an extra $1.30 for the small amount of vegetables that would barely feed a baby. Tokyo Joe's is one of the worst values for the money in the quick food industry. As much as I hate McDonalds and Wendys, these may be better choices if you are looking for a solid lunch at a fair price. I feel ripped off when paying $7 ($5.70 plus $1.30 for vegetables) for the pathetic chicken bowl at Tokyo Joe's. I am not fooled by the huge bowl of rice with hardly any of the substance - chicken & vegetables. Also pathetic is the sushi rolls that Tokyo Joe's offers. Try to find the fish within the huge rice roll they make. Again, they create the illusion of a huge sushi roll with all that rice, and barely any fish within. And it cost $6.10 for that roll. Sadly, Tokyo Joe's has little to offer in the way of value for the money. We left hungry after a total...
Read more6/3/16 update - wait times have gotten better, and the staff is friendly. Unless you have a plain Jane order, they get it right just under 50% of the time. They are good about making it right if they mess it up though. Speak clear, check your receipt, and double check your pickup before you leave to save yourself a trip back.
5/7/16 update- Down to 1 star from 3. They must have lost some help. I came here twice in the last week and the wait was over 40 minutes to get your food. FIX IT! Generally, they are expensive for what you get. If you eat here regularly, make sure you get the addict card, as it offsets the cost a little bit. I usually order the nigiri sushi, as the fish pieces are generally larger than what you get at most sushi restaurants. In that subject, on Monday nights, they offer buy-one-get-one-free sushi. You must order in pairs, but it ends up being $7 for 2 8-piece rolls and $1 per piece of nigiri. They have to enter the special different in their register, so always get a receipt. At this location in particular, I've had good service with a clean table...
Read morethe staff at this location was attentive and quick. We ordered our food and got it within 7min. We ordered a poke bowl, which is my go to and it was good and tasted fresh. Tuna was the right color which I know sounds weird but if you have been to other places its important because gray, raw tuna is not a good color. My friend got a tuna roll which she also enjoyed. Her daughter was supposed to get a bento box with a chocolate chip cookie and edamame. Instead she received a teriyaki chicken bowl with rice. She mentioned it and they brought her over a cookie and podded beans with the promise of fresh beans which never came. She didn't seem to care and they were apologetic about the situation. It was a good experience and we are in the area often so we would definitely give it another try just based on staff interaction alone. 4 stars for the bento box mishap but next time I hope to...
