If you're looking for the perfect dinner and show experience go to the Fox Lake Classic Cinemas theater . Then go across the street to the Golden Dragon Chinese restaurant . It's definitely old school and the place looks like it's still stuck in the 1970's . But the food and service are worth the trip. The prices are reasonable and the portions are very good. The hostess and server named Mei is very talented , exceptional and amazing . Her counter person named Andy is also polite with manners and courteous . Their Egg Foo Young is the best I ever tasted . I highly recommend the sampler appetizer platter. I enjoyed the Princess Chicken very much . You get a great portion . I also like the bowl of rice and sauces . There are no circuses like music or tv. The dining room is old fashioned . The bathroom is average . But the food and service will delight and excite you for a night out on the town . There are probably more take out orders than dine in. And that's just how I like it. There are enough tables to be comfortable without and crowds . It was a very enjoyable dining experience . I have been going to golden dragon for 20 years. They’ve changed owners and recipes several times in the years. We have ordered online (on their website) for several years now. The reason we keep coming is the sweet and sour sauce, it’s a comfort food for me. This is the second time they’ve forgotten it. All I wanted is a replacement. I was willing to drive the 30 minutes again to get the replacement as this is a staple to the meal. I was told they cannot do anything about an online order without their manager. They told me 2 days ago (day of order) that the manager was going to call me back. Called again yesterday, was told the same thing. Called again today and was in the area and was told their manager was not in the building and they would call me back again today. I was in the area and just wanted the sauce so that we can finish our $60 worth of food. I had to order it again and was told that they’d call me back. Still have not heard back. This is terrible service, last time this happened they just replaced the sauce. That’s all I wanted. My husband no longer wants...

We have been going to Golden dragon for many years and for almost all of those years it has never aside from the egg rolls and egg foo yung been consistent with it's quality, you could always tell when a new chef is cooking their recipes. it can be extraordinarily good or why did I want Chinese tonight. So now I make something of oriental like flavor, well you have to have egg rolls and we always get an order of egg rolls and sometimes the crabmeat delight, which are always of consistent quality too. Mothers day I was not well and did not feel like cooking a feast for my daughter and wife for Mothers day but ordered take out from Golden Dragon instead. It was not the best. The egg foo yung looked like they are doing cutbacks as they were almost half their normal size, good enough in flavor but lacking horribly in portion size. Some of what we ordered just ended up being inedible and thrown out. But in closing if you want a great egg roll, crab meat delight and if your cutting down on your portions the egg foo yung.
