Sky high prices and lack of communication to customers on their website being able to make an informed decision. I had porous-ed their website before going to the venue and it would have been nice to know that lunch prices weren't accepted on Sundays as it was listed NOWHERE on the menu and the price point for lunches is one of the reasons we went there in the first place.
We wanted to order lunch portions of our meals and we were told that they don't do the lunch prices on Sunday, even though it was on their menu listed as an available price with no side notes. There was also nothing listed on their website stating that lunch prices weren't valid on Sundays. Very misleading and almost criminal if you ask me.
In addition, they had a payment app that required you to pay for your tips up front (??) after not even knowing what the service would be like which was basically self service.
Very strange set up/atmosphere.
We paid over $80 for a salad, a cup of soup, a sandwich, a small humus platter, and two main dishes, including tip (again, paid up front). Really CRAZY prices for lunch.
We drove from Hudson and picked this spot as half way between Logan where we were dropping off our mother and Jamaica Plain where my brother lives.
The food was pretty good. Not wow, but fresh. For the price, I expected to have a larger portion of hummus. The hummus was very good and the vegetables served with it were very crisp and fresh.
The salad my mom got was very fresh.
The jerk chicken was good but nothing like the real stuff.
The coconut cake was knock your socks off fabulous, decadent, just a touch of sweet though...really nice fresh whipped cream.
Will not be going here again. Prices were WAY WAY too high. WAY too high. Did I say that enough?...
Read moreMy family and I had a terrible experience. This was a zero star experience and we won't be coming back. Save your money!
Somehow Nzuko and GeGe's have the same address (with the former indicating it was open today and the later saying closed). GeGe's is more of a takeout than a restaurant. We thought to support a Caribbean-owned business and terribly disappointed.
We sat down and were not offered any water or drinks. It took quite a long time for the food to come and 5 of the 6 orders came out cold (wraps and dinner plates). The 6th order was a salad and came in a plastic to-go container...for $22! Had to ask for napkins, cutlery, water for everyone...these are simple things that should be standard when guests sit down at a table. When asked if the wraps are supposed to be cold, the server said no and walked away. Why did we receive cold food then? The dinner plates were also cold with no flavor. A beef patty came cold and hard and had to ask for it to be warmed up.
When indicating to the server that none of us were pleased, it was a disappointment, no one finished their food and threw the majority away, we received a nonchalant I'm sorry. We asked for the bill and she walked away. After sitting for quite sometime waiting for the server to return, we eventually had to go to the...
Read moreI don't know where the good reviews are coming from. I really wanted to like this restaurant, having come across it a few times. But given its poor quality and unwarranted high prices, I do not recommend this restaurant and will not be returning. Given the good reviews, I decided to splurge and ordered the lamb kebab platter ($18 for the small portion! $21 for large!) and a green juice. The lamb was so overcooked, it was hard to chew, dry, and worst of all, didn't have any flavor (couldn't even taste it was lamb). It was served with rice with barely any beans, very fried and oily plantains and some salad greens. It was not worth the meal at all. I'd pay max $7 for a platter of that quality - and frankly would rather eat a can of soup or McDonald's nearby. The ~$7 green juice was also disappointing and a rip off. It was supposed to have kale, apple, cucumber and other veg in it. It was mostly cucumber (a known "filler" veg for green juices) and then watered down with lots of ice. All in all, the meal was a...
