We went to Dingy’s for our first time Friday night 9/26/25 for our anniversary! We got lucky as on Only Fridays they have their clam chowder. It came with a warm piece of cornbread n it was outstanding!! For me it was definitely in the top 3 of clam chowders I’ve ever had!! So if you’re into clam chowder you won’t want to miss Friday nights here! Definitely 6 stars on it!!
We then had their wings bone in n tried their dry rub n barb b q sauce on them. Both were good but I usually never get dry rubbed and very glad that the nice young man bartending recommended it to us as they were very good! But only issue with the wings were the celery? There was something wrong with them n definitely not fresh. Had like white inside of them n my wife said hers were soggy.
We also had a side salad and I’m taking one star off my overall rating because the mushrooms on it were NOT fresh. I buy a lot of mushrooms at our house and when you leave em in the fridge too long u know how they first turn with black spots on it n then close to black?? Well these mushrooms should’ve been thrown out a min of 3 days prior as they were definitely too far gone. Whoever is the food manager should inspect ALL food every morning when they get to work n before every service n whoever the chef was who made the salad should’ve made an audible n NEVER put these on the salad. Nothing better than FRESH, crisp, white mushrooms on your salad n nothing worse than soft black ones. Also some of the cucumbers on the salad looked a little aged. Not horrible but I would’ve thrown em out that morning especially if you want the appearance of a FRESH garden salad. When I cook I throw anything out in our fridge that even looks slightly bad. It ruined an otherwise perfect meal of the food that we chose, that’s why I had to take a star off because to me if you’re willing to put bad mushrooms on a salad what else are you pushing the envelope with inside your kitchen??? Old meat, chicken, pork, etc…? Idk….but it just makes me question it because there was a lack of food quality control as there was No doubt these mushrooms were 3 days bad.
The service was outstanding as we sat at the bar and were well taken care of by both the young man n nice young lady that took care of everything!! All staff were pleasant and friendly that we interacted with!
If it weren’t for the bad mushrooms this place is definitely a 5 star as that clam chowder is divine!!
If they fixed the quality control of ALL food items it would be perfect! This Starts at the food manager n definitely the Chef who ultimately puts food on your plate.
We will go again (on a Friday night) sometime and definitely try it again n hope for these small improvements. Plz watch your veggies n toss out the old stuff!!! I’d post a pic of the bad mushrooms but there’s no option on this review...
Read moreThe atmosphere here is nautical themed. It doesn't smack you in the face with it, just enough to make an enjoyable feel to the place. There's not a ton of seats, just enough to be cosy.
I went a little crazy ordering, thinking I'd have leftovers. I ordered the Bacon Wrapped Sausage ($9). Then a half order of Honey Chipotle Wings ($8). Finally a half order of Ribs ($20). I started with the wings. They were excellent. Very tender and sweet and spicy. Not burning spicy, just smack you spicy. They were juicy and came right off the bone! The bacon wrapped sausage is a spicy andouille. Sadly it's just six small bites. That being said it is very good. Lol after the wings the slice in andouille was mild! The Ribs were spectacular. Fall off the bone tender and between the spices and bbq sauce on it it has amazing taste profile! It also came with coleslaw and bomba fries. The coleslaw was amazing, soooo good! The fries were good, but nothing special. I had no left overs.
The service was excellent. Very friendly. They check on you and treat you like a normal.
Overall an easy 6 star review. I mean 5, lol. Would I return? I don't know when, but heck yes...
Read moreWow, what a Restaurant! Amazing food and service. The sign on the door said please be patient since we are under-staffed, but the staff on-hand was super-fast, efficient and friendly. Best service I have had at a restaurant in a very long time. Very nice menu and it just happened that it was "Fish Friday" with perch or cod as an option. I tried half cod and half perch, and it came out of the kitchen hot and tasted wonderful. The best fresh I have had in many years. What can I say... Dinghy's Restaurant and Bar was Outstanding in every respect. Great Food, Great Service and the best food service attitude I have seen post Covid. Hats off to the Staff and owner for having such a Winning Team. I was overwhelmed by Dinghy's Restaurant and Bar. If you are in Frankfort, it is a MUST Try! Thank-you Dinghy's Restaurant and Bar for making my day...
