Great food, top-notch coffee, sandwiches, paninis and wraps. Fresh local and organic ingredients make all the difference. Friendly baristas that remember your name. Lines are not usually too long, and there's both table seating and comfortable chairs, tables and couches, along with outdoor seating which is usually in the shade. Free wifi is available. Instruments hang on the wall in case you want to pick a tune. On the table is the usual assortment of coffeeshop board games and chess pieces. Books line the walls, overflow from Poor Richard's Books next door.
But what really sets this place apart is the wide variety of music that comes through. Small space means intimate performance settings. Sound system is exceptional, as is the sound man. Every Sunday afternoon there's music from 1-3, and many times there's concerts on Friday and Saturday nights. Max seating is about 60. Everyone from John Cowen to the California Guitar Trio to the Dixie Bee-Liners to Anna Roberts-Gevalt and Elizabeth LaPrelle have taken the stage. The sound is always great and the performers are top-notch. Musicians are always begging to come play here.

Read moreThe Wife and I was out-N-about cruising and happened by this little hole in the wall ( not a slant or insult ) Coffee house, had to give it a try, Wife loves Coffee, me, not so much, however once the Wife had conveyed her order for her drink (why you women gotta be so crazy when ordering coffee? lol) soo much add ons to coffee, anyway once the coffee was ready and the wife tried it she was very happy with it, the lady who prepared it did a Phenomenal job, the drink was spot on, the wife had the chicken andouille sausage gumbo and it was a very delicious soup.
Although I did not partake in the coffee aspect of our visit I did try their version of Spicy Chili, I usually avoid ordering chili at small cafe's they tend to be underwhelming, However the Chili at this place was Awesome I could tell it was homemade by the taste of it, had good spice added to it without being offensive and overpowering, good hearty flavor and taste.
was quite entertaining to find a Trivial Pursuit game and the Wife and I was testing our knowledge, fun time waiting for food to arrive in a nice room, not too loud and a quite pleasant visit.
When we are ever back in that neighborhood we will definitely return for...

The problem was the place was filthy. Crumbs on the table, all over the floor with other trash. I was going to be generous with three stars but when my husband explained how the bathrooms were, I dropped it to the two. The bathrooms were disgusting and I don’t mean dirty, I mean they were nasty.
The food case had flies all over the muffins and baked goods.
I dropped it down once more to a one-star when we left because as we were leaving, we were friendly enough to tell the barista thank you despite the poor attitude and we got a “yeah” in a tone that said - don’t talk to me.
Once cleaned up and in a better attitude, I bet the place is rather nice. Working in a service career is hard but if dealing with people is that hard, then perhaps find another career.
As for the iced mochas, it was pure ice. There was barely any coffee in it. We got maybe six sips in and the ice filled...
