Drove thru around noon on the Sat before Memorial day.. This place is HUGE.. but at the same time it is easy to navigate. I wish I had more time to spend here. Some people may not think visiting cemeteries is interesting or an attraction but especially one like this is. It is filled with so much history & art! It's like an outdoor history/art museum & botanical garden. There are a couple of Kentucky governors buried in the cemetery. Daniel & Rebecca Boone's burial site overlooking the River, the Kentucky capital buildings and Historic downtown Frankfort. Artist Paul Sawyer is resting here & there is a memorial for lost unborn children which i found interesting. It would be interesting to find out how old some of them are.. cause yea they are the biggest in circumference that i have ever seen in person. The staff were busy getting the grounds ready for Memorial Day. But you could tell that the grounds & markers are maintained and nice all the time. I'm not sure how old this cemetery is or how far back the dates run but there are clearly several generations here... lots of stories.. There is a large variety of flowers & other plants planted throughout the grounds but what i really wished i could have spent more time doing was just looking at all of the amazing marble sculptures. The artistry, talent & skill not to mention hours of back breaking hard work it had to have taken to create those amazing monuments.. and there are sooo many here... so many I just couldn't stop & look at them like I wanted.. to appreciate them. I didn't even have time to drive thru the...
