My fiance and I got dinner at BOM to kick off our anniversary weekend trip to KY’s bourbon trial. Overall, we give it 4/5 stars.
We made a reservation nearly 2 months in advance as I am a diligent planner. We got there and was greeted by the bartender and manager, Clarence. We were a little early so got some cocktails and he was able to seat us early which we greatly appreciated! We were promptly greeted by our server and gave her our appetizer and entree order. Our wait was unfortunately long (almost an hour) until we got our app while we watched all the tables around us get their orders promptly. Our server was working very hard to tend to 3 large parties next to us, so we understood why much of her attention was devoted to them, however frustrated that we were over looked, especially because our table was right next to the stairs and clearly seen to those coming and going. Luckily, another server had noticed we were waiting for a very long time and was able to check on our order for us. We finally got our app and it took an additional 40 minutes to get our entrees. As it turns out, there was an issue with submitting our order to the printer. We understand, things happen! Our server also forgot my drink order for a second beverage but I didn’t care to remind her. The waitstaff was very apologetic about our wait and technical difficulties and Clarence graciously compensated our entrees and gave us a complimentary cocktail and dessert. He really went above and beyond to take care of us and remediate our experience. Thank you so so much to him!!!
The food and cocktails were out of this world!!! So delicious and flavorful!! We loved the bourbon iced tea, the house & OFC burger, and chocolate chip bread pudding. Splendid job to the kitchen staff!!
Overall, we had a good time. We were on vacation so we’re weren’t in any rush and if we lived in the area, we’d definitely give this place another shot. The entire staff was very friendly and the food and cocktails were delicious!! Again, we cannot say enough about how incredible Clarence was who frequently checked on us throughout the night and made us feel at home. We loved the atmosphere! The local history and bourbon theme definitely shinned through! If you are thinking about trying this place, I’d recommend it! Thank you BOM for our first meal...
Read moreI'm honestly not sure I'd go here again-- came in town for the day and was really looking forward to going to dinner here. Started with cocktails and appetizer. The pork belly deviled eggs were delicious. The cocktails were not that good for $10 piece. The old fashion was barely filled and there was a pile of sugar in the bottom of the cup. I got some drink with an orange floating in it-- something with a creamsicle? Was way too sweet. Staff was pleasant though, so we were still enjoying our time. My husband's burger arrived first, it was delicious. My food didn't arrive for awhile, I was told it had to be dipped because they ran out of the chicken already dipped. That was fair, but it was probably 40 minutes waiting for my food after his. They did give us a free dessert and two free ok drinks, though my chicken sandwich and dessert arrived at the table at the same time. Then the manager arrived with a Togo version in her hand. In the meantime,I had asked for more water and the waitress left never bringing water and another did finally bring it when I asked. My food arrived!!! -- and my chicken sandwich was raw in the middle 🥴😬 after waiting so long. 😭 A waitress approached who I showed my raw chicken sandwich and she took it. I asked her just to remove it from my check. 20 minutes there my usually waitress approached not even knowing my sandwich was raw. She went to give us the check (electronically) and it showed we were charged for the dessert and she left for awhile. Finally another waitress approached with her tablet and was able to ring us out. Totally was still $56 for appetizer, two drinks and one cheeseburger. Even after two meh free drinks, two chocolate bread puddings it seemed like a lot still for the hassle and never getting my food. The wait staff was completely kind through it all, explaining they had a new system. We can understand that. The lack of some communication, detail and follow through would be the reason we don't return.
Edited to add-- I believe my review was fair and polite after about a 2 hour debacle; however, employees found it appropriate to laugh at my...
Read moreLong story short, go to Goodwood instead.
Came by at 5:30 (group of 2). After a very awkward three minutes of waiting to be sat; watching a seemingly pissed off employee sitting in the guest seating, as well as the bartender and hostess gossiping (only pausing twice to glance before breaking the conversation to eventually seat us)
At that point another group of two came in and was waiting for us. It was ONLY THEN, that the hostess was bothered enough to come and talk to us. What transpired then was a scramble involving three employees trying to find seating for us despite the various open tables- for whatever godforsaken reason the hostess informed us that there were only two tables available for a two top (could’ve just sat us literally at any table, but no- not at B.O.M.)
The hostess then informs the four of us waiting that WE MUST CHOOSE WHICH TABLE TO SIT AT BECAUSE ONE IS IN THE SUN, the group that arrived after us quickly made the decision to sit in the shade, and was promptly sat first. (to no fault of their own.)
We were eventually sat in the high top two seater bathed in sunlight, after waiting a short while we decided to walk next door to Goodwood. Even on our way out we were cut off by some employee rubbing his stomach in the hallway- very strange. Also, the seemingly disgruntled employee ended up behind the bar with a drink in hand as I passed towards the door. That’s not particularly important but I didn’t want to leave the plot with the man in the air.
NO sense of professionalism, NO sense of hospitality, and a severe lack of flow in the establishment....
