My wife and I had the Bourbon Trail on our bucket list and since she had just retired from ministry this seemed like the perfect time to visit Frankfort and see the many sights. We enjoyed many of our destinations, Castle and Key, Glenn Creek and Buffalo Trace distilleries, the Daniel Boone memorial at the Frankfort Cemetery, several local restaurants, and capped our trip off with the Bourbon Boat Tour. We had no trouble at all finding the boat landing area and parking could not have been any easier. The owner and Captain of our ship was Nathan and his wife Allison. If you can ever find more of a "people person" than Nathan you are indeed blessed. His knowledge of the area and its people and history are unparalleled as far as I am aware. The communication was flawless in terms of where, what and when, complete with a reminder the day before the trip. His love and passion for Frankfort heritage just pours out from him. I learned so much and wish I had taken notes since I know I will be unable to remember everything. The boat itself was clean, comfortable, and above all safe! The hospitality to all guests was just wonderful, and the amenities offered at the boat house and on board the boat were a nice touch. You could get some souvenirs, (caps, shirts and many others) refreshments (ice cream snacks, soft drinks, and other small misc. food items. The river and surrounding area were positively beautiful and you can well imagine the earliest settlers coming into this area and knowing what a jewel of a place it was and still is! While it was not the least expensive part of our time in Frankfort I would absolutely say it was the best invested part of our trip and the perfect finale to our 3 day trip! Could not ask for better and will definitely recommend to as many people as are willing to listen. Do yourself a favor and...
Read moreWent on this Bourbon River Boat Cruise on Sept. 13, 2024. Last minute decision and called to book it. Captain Nathan took the reservation himself. Viator online booking showed everything full til the 18th of Sept. If you are interested in doing this go directly to the Bourbon River Boat Cruise website. The tour was delightful with the rubbing the whiskey on your hands to smell the alcohol to second time to get the grain and yeast smell (and sanitize your hands after boarding. We actually had a similar hand sanitizer during Covid that had our business name on it). Captain Nathan gave the trip a personal flare with his passion of the area. Four flights were tasted during the cruise. Everyone on our cruise was considerate and listened to his presentation and didn't try to chat over him like a distrillery tasting tour we attended that morning at Four Roses. A question and answer period was available for those who wanted to learn more. Very comfortable, clean boat with restrooms and two levels. We went to the upper level to enjoy the view after the tasting/ presentation. If you are staying in Frankfort, KY or the surrounding area, I highly recommend this tour. Many locals were on our tour and they had space for 8 more people. Rates were reasonably as it was $109 for two passengers. Lot of history...
Read moreSuch a beautiful venue with a totally welcoming and knowledgeable crew. The crew and owners make you feel welcome and valued as soon as you step on board. They are attentive to your every need with their boat being spotless, clean and overall well cared for! The beverage selection is superb and one would be hard pressed to find anything better than what’s offered on board as you cruise the beautiful Kentucky river. The quality and extensive selection offered on board can’t be beat. Their prices are extremely affordable and reasonable and a very welcome break from the high inflation craziness one encounters often today. What an affordable, extremely valuable and fun event this was for all of us! They are so fair and generous with excellent service. A Total Value ! The crew alerted us to a bald eagle sighting and beautiful blue heron. Fish were jumping in the water and we had such fun. In addition to the beautiful wildlife sightings, the crew is very knowledgeable about the areas rich history. It’s an interesting and fascinating historical part of the world. This is one of those trips you’ll never regret...
