Old Plank Trail Tavern — Restaurant in Frankfort

I tried this bar out for the first time on Easter Sunday. The people were very friendly from the moment I walked in the door. There were a couple of dogs walking around (very sweet and friendly) who greeted me first.

The atmosphere has somewhat of a dive bar/pub feel to it. A lot of the bar's history can be seen on the walls with different pictures and items hanging over the bar. There are a couple of tv's to watch games on. The jukebox is always a plus for me, and it didn't disappoint; I had no problem using my Touchtunes app to put on some music, and the regulars didn't mind my choice of country and classic rock.

I was welcomed into conversation with some of the regulars, and it just felt a bit like home. A "Cheers" dive(ish) pub. The bartender Megan was absolutely fantastic and cracked me up quite a bit.

I didn't eat, so I can't comment on the food, but a guy down the bar was raving about his burger when I came in. The one slight negative I would give is that there is only a single women's bathroom and it's a little cramped. Stopped in here on a hot summer day during Bluegrass Festival 2024 before the crowds hit. The vibe of this place when it's not crowded is awesome. I felt transported back to the 1970's just walking through to get a drink and catch the bluegrass band on the patio. The bartender was busy making many drinks for the patio crowd but was attentive, the drink was great and inexpensive, and the atmosphere is something that you just aren't going to find in a strip mall or a cookie-cutter brand name bar. My group of friends will never visit this facility again. We get together and do a workout that takes us down Old Plank Trail and ends at this facility. We’ve done this for years. We were abruptly and rudely told that we didn’t call ahead that we planned to drink at this establishment ahead of time. Didn’t know we had to make a reservation at a hole in the wall bar that is cash only and only serves cheeseburgers and pizza. Sorry, you lost the business of...
