Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Franklin Township

I am only giving this place one star not because of the frozen custard I give that 5 stars. I went to Rita's for the craving I am pregnant. And I crave me some Rita's! Mind you I have been living here for the past 6 years!! I order my usual. Vanilla chocolate ice cream custard in a gelato cup. With chocolate sprinkles on top. Then I order my usual gelato watermelon with vanilla custard and chocolate chips on the top and bottom. For the first order, I was refused a gelato cup and told that they don't put vanilla custard with chocolate custard in the large gelato cup. And I was also told they don't put the chocolate chips on top of the gelato that I had ordered for the watermelon vanilla custard. I explained to them I always get this order for the past six years that I've been coming here and it was never an issue. The girl insinuated that I was lying and also then stated that I don't know what employee was helping you and I had to tell her to stop arguing with me I will just contact the owner. I even explained to them I would pay the upcharge if there was one for the large cup of vanilla ice cream custard with chocolate. Then she rebottled we don't do that. I finally got what I wanted after they started speaking in their language right in front of me I know they were talking about...

The Brownie Sundae was disgusting. The brownie does not look like the picture online it is hard as a rock and tastes so stale. I also got Oreo cookie crumbs on my Sunday and the stale taste of the cookies were worse than the brownie. Do not waste your money on their toppings they are expired. Also, I had to have the person working there to make me another sundae with gloves. They think we can’t see their prepare station from the window but you can and I saw him use his hands to add my toppings. When I told him that I saw what he did, he didn’t deny it, apologized, said he forgot to put them on and made me a new one. He had to search for the gloves letting me know he wasn’t using gloves for his shift. You work with food during COVID gloves should be second nature but not at this establishment. They have to be in volition of health and...

On our way back home we spotted the open sign out front of this Rita’s. We pulled up around 8:45pm while another customer was being served. The small sign by the order window read that they would be closing at 10pm. As I started to exit my vehicle the two workers inside quickly scurried to close the window and turn off the Open sign. I double checked the closing time online which read 9pm. Perhaps I misread the sign.

Still, it astounds me that people with this lack of courtesy and work ethic are allowed to run these shops. I’m a believer in customer service and if I were in their position, I would have gladly served the customer within the 15 minute window that were still technically Open Hours.

This will be our only time visiting this location....
