My husband and I live nearby and have never been here before. We were both in the mood for Italian food, so we drove around to various places only to find out there was an hour or more of a wait. We decided to try it out here. There was no wait at all, and maybe about three tables inside with customers having dinner. That should have been our first red flag. We walked in and were seated immediately. The atmosphere was nice, although a little outdated. Our waitress spoke broken English (not a big deal) and brought us water, and menus pretty quickly. We decided what we both wanted to order, and set aside the menus and then sat for almost 20 minutes before my husband flagged down a waitress serving another table. She went to get our waitress who then came to take our order. My husband ordered lasagne ($24), and I ordered the plain Fettucine Alfredo ($17.95). She brought us a tiny basket with three, cold and tiny pieces of stale bread. I had a piece and hubby ate two. Then we sat for quite awhile again, before our food came. There was no side salad or soup with the entree. When we asked, a waitress in a rough voice told us that nothing is included with the entree, and that any soup or salad was ala cart and costed extra (a side salad was an additional $4.95). When our food arrived, our entrees were hot out of the oven, and were decent portions. However, my husband described his lasagne as a large piece of Stouffer’s frozen lasagne from the grocery store, with a lot of added cheese and Ragu. It wasn’t your typical square cut, layered piece of lasagne. It was more like spaghetti sauce “soup”, with mozzarella cheese and cooked tomatoes. My Fettucine was not plain. I was given the higher priced version with chicken and mushrooms (which was $24 instead of $17.95). I dislike mushrooms immensely. I pushed the mushrooms aside and took a bite of the pasta. The pasta was gray in color and the sauce didn’t have the familiar Alfredo taste. It was more like cream of mushroom soup poured over old noodles. I was extremely hungry but there was no way I was eating it. No one came to check on us during our meal so I literally got up and went to the car. My husband paid the bill (over $50), and he then left without eating his, either. So basically, we paid over $50, for a few sips of water, stale bread and a taste of way overpriced food that was not what we expected. This was just our personal experience. We will...
Read moreSadly I wanted to give this review a 1 star however, I have been to this restaurant many times and have always had a great experience so I decided on a 3 star review. When my husband and I went to Casa Di Giorgio for Valentine’s Day, yesterday, it was one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a restaurant.
Weeks before we called to make reservations to ensure a table for Valentine’s Day. A few days before we received a phone call telling us they weren’t talking dinner reservations for Valentine’s Day under a table of 6 but there wouldn’t be an issue getting in promptly. Strange to us but, ok. Upon arrival it was crowded, guests were starting to raise their voices in anger and it took 20 mins just to get our name on a list. From there we had to wait 40 mins for a table. Rightfully annoyed but we drove 30 mins to get there so we decided to wait. Lucky a spot at the bar had opened up quickly and we snatched the seats, ordered drinks and had an appetizer. When we got to our table our server approached us already annoyed from the environment of the night. She was rude, short and really awkward. She asked if we had any promotions and in fact we did. That is when she told us Groupons weren’t excepted tonight and “it says that right online.” We looked at the terms of the Groupon and nothing mentioned no holidays. She then said it was on the website and “he will come over and show me if I want.” We looked, nothing on the website. We were done at this point. We just ordered, ate, tipped accordingly and left. Disappointed.
We ordered 3 drinks at the bar and an appetizer, 3 drinks at dinner and 2 entrees. We had every intention of having more drinks and possibly dessert. It was Valentine’s Day and we had saved a little stash to enjoy ourselves. But after the rudeness of the server, we stopped ordering and finished up our night there. The Groupon was for $15 off our dinner and really not worth the attitude we received from the staff. It was simply a cute way for my husband to gift me a nice dinner. We were treated like “cheap stakes.” We came wanting to enjoy ourselves and left disappointed.
I hope to try Casa Di Giorgio again because it has been a stable place to celebrate with a nice dinner but I was very disappointed and not sure if I will return. It truly was one of the worst restaurant experiences I...
Read moreThree stars thanks to our server Debbie who was friendly and attentive. She actually took the time to chase us into the parking lot when we forgot our leftovers. Too bad she has to serve sub par cuisine.
The first thing I noticed upon entering was the bar full of dirty glassware, plates and napkins. Not a good sign. Being a former bartender I would have been reprimanded if my station was in such disarray. It looked exactly the same an hour later as we were leaving.
We were seated promptly in a marginally full dining room. The front of house staff were courteous and efficient. The meal service was paced well.
Our order for 4 began with a Calamari appetizer which was very good. 5 stars
Minestrone soup. Was average. 3 stars
Chicken Pesto Gnocchi which seemed like a canned pesto on over cooked chicken and the Gnocchi was overcooked to near mush. 1 star
Beef Spiedini. I have never seen it presented in this manner. Usually Spedinni is Tenderloin pounded and rolled with puchitto ham and cheeses inside, rolled in olive oil and bread crumbs. It is skewered and served stand alone with a side dish. What was served to us was smothered in some kind of gravy with a medley of bell peppers, completely overpowering the tenderloin. 1 star
Personal Pizza, What can I say about pizza? This isn't the greatest pizza on the planet and it was not bad. Thin crust. 3.5 stars
Chicken Piccata, We all agreed this was the best of the four entrees we ordered. The chicken was cooked correctly and the sauce was well seasoned with nice flavors. 4.5 star.
I always feel bad to see good servers having to present marginal food. Their tips suffer through no fault of their own. The kitchen needs to step it up. My advice for what it's worth. Scale down the menu selections. I always enjoy a restaurant that does a few things really well as opposed to one like Casa Di Giorgio who tries to do to...
