We were in Franklin for one night and decided to stop in to this place. It was really popular with locals it seemed. All I can say is..they need to get out more.
We'll start with the service. I'm torn on this one because the girl who seated us and took our initial drink order was very friendly. So was our waitress. They were very friendly and cheerful and had a great attitude. The problem was the place seemed to be under staffed, as we waited a long, long time to get our food and we noticed them making apologies to tables around us as well. We ordered chicken wings and an extra large pizza and it took a long time to get them. What seemed annoying to us was either the owner or the manager(not sure which) was there, at the bar drinking and hanging out with buddies while his staff sank. I would watch him occasionally get up from the bar and go to the kitchen, then resume hanging out with his buddies at the bar. Not something that you you want to see when stuff is coming out slow and the staff is swamped. the servers were cheerful , but there was no update letting us know they hadn't forgotten about us. We gleaned the other troubles they were having by observing the tables around us.
We ordered the chicken wings and an extra large pizza.
The chicken wings were soggy, lukewarm at best, and honestly I think they were from a frozen bag of wings from Costco or something that had just been microwaved or perhaps put in an oven long ago(due to the temp). They were the worst wings I can ever remember eating at a restaurant.
The pizza wasn't probably THE worst I'd ever eaten at a pizza place...but it's worst we could remember in a long time. I'm not sure if the crust recipe is just bad or it was just criminally under cooked, but it was that white, doughy, make-it-yourself at home Pillsbury or school lunch crust that just had no texture and little flavor.
Maybe it's just coincidence or maybe we just caught them on their worst night ever, but you often see the manager/owner who treats the place like a hangout instead of a business and this type of product go...
Read moreAWFULLY ATROCIOUS service tonight, Friday 12/11/20! Normally we don’t have issues but this left me walking away very upset. We placed an order through the slice app and saw it would take an hour 10 minutes to deliver. My wife suggested we call and get our order changed to carry out, which after being on hold for 10 minutes was told that our pizza would be ready for carry out in 20 to 25 minutes. We arrive at the restaurant 25 minutes later where I was 4th in line for carry out, fairly typical for a Friday night. The employees seemed flustered and appeared to be short staffed for the night. When I was helped I was told they did not have a pizza under my phone number and I felt brushed away by the hustle and bustle, I stood around til a lull and asked again, being told my pizza would come out when it’s ready. 35 minutes later I was asked by the same employees who brushed me away if I had been helped. To which I said not really. They continued on being busy, and I stopped a third employee asking if they would check on my pizza. 40 minutes after arriving for carry out, I received a phone call from a delivery driver saying he was at my house with our order. I told him to leave it on the door step as we only live a 5 minute drive away from downtown. I quickly left unnoticed much like arrived and got home to pick up our cold pizza and breadsticks (due to weather and me requesting the driver to leave food in the doorstep.) So to recap, was told one hour ten minute delivery time, changed to 25 minutes for carry out, and after waiting 40 minutes in the restaurant, was called one hour twenty minutes after placing order that my pizza was at my house ✌️ Again, it’s not always like this, but tonight was the worst experience we have had at Greeks...
Read moreWe probably just had our last Greek's pizza from the Franklin location tonight. Which is a bummer because this place used to be our go-to pizza joint, but tonight was one lack luster pizza too many. We opted for take-out tonight. Ordering online was simple enough. When the inattentive bar staff finally noticed the line forming at the take-out register, we were able to pay quickly, race home, excited to eat our fresh, hot pizza. Unfortunately, the pizza was neither fresh tasting or even hot even though it was made to order. Skimpy toppings, stale crust that didn't rise, and dry. We had the chicken fajita special with the thinnest slices of sad, dry chicken and not nearly enough cheese to hide the minimal sauce. I'm all for stretching a dollar, but I'd gladly pay more to have the Greek's of yester-year back. I've enjoyed the Tapp Room many a night since they first opened, but it may be time to leave those tasty, buttery, buy a beer for the cook because the pizza was just so dang good memories behind. We'll try one of the many other pizza offerings in Franklin next time.
edit Did email owners as requested, but I never got a response. We have since given Greek's another shot and the pizza was much,...
