Well I was told this was a great place for pizza... I have been craving good pizza for months. I moved from Asheville and am half Italian. I know good pizza. This was not it. The young woman on the phone, while nice, had to ask the cook how the pizza Margherita was made. I ordered one and and Antipasto salad. Also ordered a drink. My friend picked up. Excited I opened the box and my heart sank. Margherita pizza is fresh tomatoes, fresh mozz and fresh basil...a good drizzle of olive oil and you're done. This was none of that! It had tomato sauce and chunks of tomatoes, cheap pre-shredded cheese and no fresh Basil. No olive oil. Apparently they cook on a screen or pan because even though I ordered it well done, it was wet and doughy in the center. I put it on a pan and threw it in my oven on 450 for another 10 minutes to finish cooking. I have had better frozen pizzas.
The Antipasto salad was horrible. Cheap iceburg lettuce, cold cooked Italian sausage crumbles, was supposed to come with provolone but did not. I added feta which was tasteless and their house dressing that was also without taste. I threw it in the trash. No onion, no bell pepper, cold, fatty bland sausage crumbles, tasteless banana peppers and the worst wanna be Balsamic dressing ever. Complete garbage.
To top it off they charged me for a drink I never got. Honestly, save your money. Wet, soggy screen cooked pizza is not what you are looking for. I'm ordering from Hush next and I know that will be real pizza.
Don't bother with Jaxons downtown unless you like nothing but...
Read moreNothing exciting that we had. We had wings and meatball sub. The sub was really small, the fries were good, but they were just fries. Although I liked the sauce on the meatball sub, the wing sauces were lackluster, the Boom Boom sauce flavor didn't hold up which was disappointing.
This is typical of most Franklin food - medicore at best and over priced. However, there was a good crowd and the calzones and strombolis looked good. For us the value/flavor was just not there.
The restaurant and the bathrooms are clean. I especially don't like the interior decor. It has very muted colors and was just overall depressing. So much more could be done with the inside to make it not feel so closed in. I am sure that we will never go back - there was just not anything there worth spending our hard earned money on and the lure of a possibly good pizza/calzone/stromboli is not enough to get us to go back.
It seems they are proud of their pork bbq and that they make it there, but there was not one hint of wood smoke smell in that restaurant and well for me that is one of the most important things hinting a special food.
This is just our opinion so you should try it out if you haven't to see for yourself. Try the calzone/strom first I guess and maybe the fries with bbq...
Read moreI was sitting in the parking lot of the post office when an officer from the Sheriff's department stopped and asked me if everything was OK. I told him I was trying to figure out where to eat. Long story short, he said Jaxon's was the place to go for pizza.
Not only did I appreciate the officer checking on me but I took him up on his recommendation and I'm definitely glad I did.
I stopped and ordered a large veggie pizza. It took about 20 minutes to cook up. While I was waiting, the staff offered me a soda or water, which I took them up on.
The pizza came and I walked back to my hotel. During the walk back, I ran into my only complaint. It was killing me, smelling the pizza the whole way back to my room.
When I got back to my hotel, I was finally able to crack open the box and I found a great looking pie waiting for me. Soft crust, tasty sauce and a decent amount of veggies.
I've only had the one pizza but based on that, I'd...
