I think we caught them on a bad day... the food itself was pretty good, but we did have a new waiter and the place was understaffed/short-handed.
That being said, I ordered the loaded baked potato with pork, no sour cream. While everyone else's food was brought out, I was told that the kitchen staff put sour cream on it so they had to make another one. Then I waited another 10ish minutes or so before I got my potato. I asked for white sauce (I'm from Alabama; I NEED my white sauce). I waited another 10 minutes for the waiter to come back with a jug of tea and no sauce to tell him I needed sauce and my potato was getting cold. He gets half a sauce cup of sauce... what? I didn't realize this happened until he walked away. I poured it on less than half of my potato and proceed to wait again for another 10 minutes for him to come back to ask him for more white sauce for my potato that's getting pretty cold. I tell him, he goes to the kitchen, comes back 5 minutes later, and I'm told that last bit was the last of the sauce... I got the bottom of the bottle and it was nothing but liquid black pepper, which I was willing to overlook, had I had more sauce to even it out.
I tell the waiter that I can't mix the two sauces, my potato is cold, and that I wanted another one. He gets me another one. Both potatoes had about two tablespoons of meat on them with 1 and a half potatoes. Don't get me wrong... I like potatoes, but I don't go to Jim N Nick's for the potato. I go there to eat that wonderful, smoked meat. I had SO much potato that I could barely taste the meat. The in-house sauce tasted like someone mixed siracha and ketchup together and it was watery.
Now getting to the reason we were there in the first place...
It was my boyfriend's birthday and he had his heart set on Jim N Nick's and met with just as much disappointment. He had a lot of friendly but frustrating back and forth about menu options for him with the waiter concerning his Ciliacs and deadly fish allergy, coming to find out that the waiter was told by the kitchen that the in-house sauce contained anchovies but the last time we came, the drive thru told us the in-house was anchovie/gluten free.
My mom and step dad took us there to treat him for his birthday. She ordered the queso dip so my boyfriend could have some (it was the only side he could have). It took 20 minutes to find out if the chips were gluten free or not after when ordering it, the waiter told us he would double check the ingredients for everything my boyfriend ordered (he knew it was for my boyfriend even though my mom ordered).
Lastly, my boyfriend ordered the beef brisket baked potato. Again. So. Much. Potato. So little meat. He was so disappointed and was really looking forward to a good meal and good experience for his birthday after having a rough week. The waiter's newness and my food experience wouldn't have been enough to urge me to write about my experience, but seeing the disappointment on his face was heart breaking. He really loved this place and had fond memories back when Jim N Nicks was only in Nashville. To him, this was one of very few that he thought could help suit his allergies so he could enjoy a normal meal like everyone else.
I'm not sure we'll be coming back unless we're getting 1lb of meat to go from the drive thru; even then, I question that logic because of the...
Read moreFirst, I’m doing a review here because I never received the survey invitation like I always do after ordering online. I am aware there’s a survey code on the receipt, but after ordering online, I have always received an email invitation to take the survey. This was the first time I have ever not received it. I wish I could give ZERO stars. I will never return to this Jim N Nicks location ever. I’ve been to Jim N Nicks many times over, in AL as well as TN. But this was the first time I’d ever visited this particular location. Sunday, March 6, I ordered online and went to pick up my food. When I arrived, the host at the front was nice and when I told him I had a to go order, he directed me to the right area. There was no one standing at the to-go area, but I didn’t mind a little wait. I waited for about 10 minutes and no one ever came out. However, I was still fine with the wait at this time because I figured my food just wasn’t quite ready, and someone will for sure bring it out once it is. During the time I was waiting, there was a server at a table about 6 feet away, and this table had about 6-8 people seated, so I did not bother the server because I figured he was too busy and just did not work the to-go area. But I was, again, only 6 feet away from this table, so I was definitely seen by both the server and the people at the table. The server did not approach me at any time. I decided to have a seat in one the chairs provided and continued to wait. Shortly after sitting, a second customer comes into the to go area. A few minutes after this, someone finally comes out and takes our names. When this person goes back to the kitchen, the previously mentioned server now calls out to the second customer that he can assist them with their pickup order. But I had been waiting over 20 minutes at this point, and this server completely ignored me and NEVER OFFERED ME ASSISTANCE. When the other server returned with my food (which clearly had been ready), I asked for a manager and was informed that the server in question WAS a manager. I did not ask for his name, but he was dancing and singing with his table right next to the to go area. Again, this was 3/6/22 about an hour before close. I was 100% ignored and treated unfairly. I have NEVER been treated like this at ANY restaurant EVER. To top it off, once I got home and checked my food, they had not given me the cheese biscuits that should have come...
Read moreVery uncomfortable experience in the drive thru 2 days in a row. The lunch deals are very affordable and the food is so good so I stopped by this location 3x in one week to spend my money, however, the last 2 times the lady in the drive thru addressed me unprofessionally and it felt like aggression and harassment the way she handed me my cash and my food and how she spoke to me. I asked for a refund after the 2nd experience because that's a pattern, not coincidental. The first time she asked me if I was the one who placed the order and I said "who else would be driving past me in the drive thru" and the experience just didn't make sense. The 2nd time the lady used intimidating language, seemed aggressive toward me while handing me my money, and disclosed personal details about her life that were very uncomfortable. The manager who came to the window was even more rude and dismissive and defended her aggressive behavior and stared at me with intimidating eye contact through his glasses, looked at my ring finger to see if I was married (I have a boyfriend so technically not single) and he dismissed my concerns about the lady's behavior. My family was also shocked to hear this experience as they love Jim N Nicks too but they won't be coming back either they said. Another review recently shared a similar experience so it seems to be more than 1 customer. It felt like I was being targeted and harassed as a younger woman from older individuals. I do well for myself and I'm currently getting my Master's as well and I was shocked by this experience. I asked for my money back that day because I don't pay to be treated rudely as a confident, successful woman. This was ridiculous to experience. I called and spoke to the GM who was excellent in contrast to what I experienced and he offered to comp my next meal and he too was shocked to hear what I experienced. At this point, I just don't feel comfortable dining at this restaurant any further and the experience cost them a few customers. It's not ok to treat any customer that way. I should never feel uncomfortable as a woman ordering food at a restaurant. I will opt for restaurants that treat me with respect and...
