TLDR Review: Great pizza, amazing selection, much needed addition to downtown Franklin.
Full Review: I've been waiting to post a review on this place for a while now. As of this afternoons lunch I have been there 5 times, and each of the 5 times, I've tried to get something different. Now, before I get deep into my review let me set the stage. I was born and raised in Chicago and pizza sauce runs through my veins. When I rave about Chicago pizza, its not that doughy, stuffed, deep dish garbage that everyone thinks is Chicago pizza. Nope, its the cracker thin, tavern style pizza cut into squares (or rectangles) with tangy tomato sauce, ample toppings (or not), and the crust that while crispy and flaky, is never burnt. My all time favorite is Pete's pizza on Western Ave just a few miles away from Wrigley Field......Chef's kiss. You get it, I love pizza but am very picky about what I consider good. For example, don't like Joey's House of Pizza, never have. I do like 312 in Germantown but readily admit its partly nostalgia that makes me like it. Dicey's is ok.....and well I could go on but I wont. With all this said Slice House is nothing like any of these places and its the polar opposite of my beloved Pete's, and it's AMAZING! SH has several different styles of pizza which include NY style, Sicilian, Grandma, and lastly Detroit. On top of that they come with a variety of toppings, or you can select your own. Their specialty pies come with names like The Wiseguy, Lawdog, Little Italy, Sweet Gino, the Hawaiian Hitman and so on. You can choose from premade slices or order a full pie. I haven't ordered a full pie yet and that's mainly because the slices are huge. Side note: if you do plan on ordering a full pie, just know it will take 45 min to an hour. So far my favorite slice is the Wiseguy which comes with Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, Sweet & Spicy Italian Sausage, Pepperoni, Ricotta, Tony’s Hot Pepper Oil & Green Onion.....mwah. Its simply delicious! The sauce is just the perfect amount and is sweet and tangy, the dollops of ricotta perfectly offset the pepperoni and Italian sausage and its subtle sweetness balances the heat of the pepper oil. I LOVE THIS SLICE! As I mentioned earlier this is my 5th trip and I've tried something new every time and have not had a bad slice. Aside from the great pizza the staff is friendly, and yes they are still working out a few bugs when it comes to service but I have seen a drastic improvement from day one to today. The interior of the restaurant is on the smaller side and can be a bit cramped but there are plenty of picnic tables outside which are covered, and they are also finishing up a patio area in the back. Parking can be a bit tricky as the rear lot is small but there are a few spaces up front, there is some street parking on 1st ave, and there is a free public garage 1 block over. The restaurant does charge for parking in the rear lot but they validate for restaurant patrons. I saw a reviewer complain about this and stated "I do not appreciate how they are charging other customers to park when it used to be free" .....um sir, this is their property, and they are doing this to discourage non restaurant patrons from parking on the property.
So, the reason I waited so long to post a review? Pizza places can be inconsistent and even from some very good places, ive had Good Pizza one time and bad another. I'm pleased to say that The Slice House is legitimately good pizza and it has remained consistently good over several visits.
I give 5/5 and will be back again very soon to try something new and of course have another slice of my favorite,...

Visited Slice House in Franklin, TN on Sunday, May 18 approximately between 6:50 PM and 7:40 PM, and what I witnessed was appalling and completely unacceptable for any restaurant claiming to care about cleanliness or customer safety.
While I was dining, a woman brought a dog into the restaurant, not a service animal. Several employees came over and began petting the dog in the middle of the dining area. Then, without even attempting to wash their hands, they casually went right back to their tasks. One employee refilled the sauces. Another walked directly into the kitchen area, potentially even involved in food prep. That’s direct cross-contamination from petting a dog to touching items that go on customers’ food.
To make matters worse, I overheard that the woman who brought in the dog is actually the FRONT END MANAGER AT SLICE HOUSE! Just wasn’t on shift that evening. That is inexcusable. If a manager sees nothing wrong with this kind of unsanitary behavior, it tells you everything you need to know about the standards at this establishment.
This is a blatant violation of basic food safety and health regulations. It shows an utter lack of training, responsibility, and oversight. It’s one thing for a customer to bring in a dog, but when the staff, who handle food, pet it and continue working without washing up, that’s how people get sick.
If this is what happens in plain view of the dining room, I shudder to think what’s going on behind closed doors in the kitchen.
Until Slice House addresses these serious health and hygiene violations and holds their staff (and managers) accountable, I will not be returning, and I strongly suggest others reconsider dining here as well.

Read moreWe were so excited for this establishment to come to Franklin. We met up with friends on Sunday evening for a night out. What a disappointment. We thought a diverse menu that included a Gluten free crust seemed like a win. Well, it is if you want to wait for over an hour to actually get it. This is what we were told. The couple we were with wanted a side of mushrooms to go with the slices available and they were also told this would be an hour wait. They only ate half of their pepperoni slices claiming the pepperoni was overdone. Since my husband has a Gluten Allergy, we were unable to eat with our friends My husband asked to speak to a manager. After looking our way-she decided to take her time to come over and address us. My husband told her this is our first time in and possibly our last. She said that's how long a pizza takes, and he should just order one of the slices (none were Gluten free) available. She was very rude and put out by our issue. I have never been to any restaurant where a pizza took an hour to make. Had she chosen her words and been professional in her explanation and not been insensitive to the allergy at hand, we may have not felt dismissed. I am sure she feels they have plenty of business. Being a new establishment, it will always be busy at first. But you only get one chance to make a first impression. We will NEVER be back, nor will the couple we were with. Please do not suggest we email guest services. This manager is the face and representation of your company. She chose to let us leave unhappy and didn't give us another thought. I would have listed her name, but she never took the time to tell us. I will suggest in the future to have some Gluten Free and Vegan slices available to serve all...
