Ok so overall we were not impressed with this place. Started with the cup of the Magic Mushroom soup and the soup of the day which was tortilla soup. The tortilla soup was pretty good. Tasted a lot like a blended enchilada. The mushroom soup was to thick for us. Texture was more like gravy for your mashed potatoes but even thicker. Wife and daughter didn’t even finish their soup because they couldn’t deal with the texture.

The kids ordered a calzone each (2) and the wife ordered the Funky chicken pizza. I had a salad. The calzones are incredibly huge!! Way to big for one person. They are like taking a 14” pizza and folding it in half. Pretty tasty though. The chicken pizza tasted great but I don’t care for how they make their pizza. It was thicker than a thin crust but thinner than a thick crust so there wasn’t enough topping for the crust in my opinion. Plus the Ingredients don’t cover the entire pizza crust. There was like 3 inches of crust with no toppings.

The waiter was nice but the overall experience wasn’t great. First of all, they held up our meal for the “cheese calzone”. A guy came to the table and said that they were waiting for one more. We assumed it was one of the two for the kids so we told them we would wait. Then they brought out the food and everyone got what they ordered and then a few minutes later, they tried to drop off another cheese calzone! I let them know that we didn’t order that. Then when the bill came,,, yep you guessed it. They charged us for the extra calzone. I had to tell the waiter to take it off. To make matters worse, I was floored when I saw they charged me 6.99 per cup of soup! The bill for two calzones, a medium pizza and a small salad was $85 dollars!! Ok my son had sweet tea but the rest of us drank water. Then to make it even worse and I didn’t notice it until just now, the price for the soup on the menu is $5.99 not $6.99 so they overcharged me for the soup!

Anyway, not a great experience and way overpriced. I won’t be going back. I give them a 3 star only because the flavors were good. Check the prices on the receipt...

Terrible service and mediocre food. Our friends who live in Franklin took us here. All 4 of us were floored by how terrible our experience was. We showed up before the rush and sat outside (this was our first mistake because once food hit your table you were attacked by 15+ flies). Our friends asked our waitress if we could quickly get food served to their toddler, shortly after he got his food we ordered our pizza, salads, and appetizer. We NEVER got our food. My husband was served a random salad when the rest of us never got our salad or appetizer. We sat outside for a total of 1 1/2 HOURS and NEVER received the rest of the food. Apparently everyone who came after us was more of a priority to serve. Our waitress never came to notify us, never apologized until WE brought it to her attention that we were still waiting. She then said our food was in the oven. After waiting another 20 minutes our food never showed up. We asked her if we can take the food to go because our experience was so bad at that point we didn't want to stay outside with the wonderful swarm of flies. I would like to note, the rest of the tables outside were just as much neglected as we were.

To finish it off, when the food finally came in boxes to-go the waitress mentioned the appetizer was missing and then left. We didn't know if that was our goodbye or are we still waiting... No "thank you", and no apology. Just left with the order still unfinished. Our friends went inside to see where the rest of the order was and she was so confused when they came in.

When the ship is sinking in a restaurant experience, the server could at least put an effort forward to try and save it. In this case, she made it much worse. By far the worst experience we ever had at...

The Good: The food was delicious. I ordered Mel’s Classic Burger with Spud Puppies and my wife and daughter shared a pizza. No complaints about the quality of the food. However, I wish they had been a little more generous with the Spud Puppies (tater-tots). There were a grand total of seven little Spud Puppies in the tiny ramekin into which they were crammed. The server was friendly. Hostess was friendly.

The Bad: It was not crowded when we arrived. Lots of empty tables in the main dining room as well as in the adjoining rooms. However, we were told it would be a thirty minute wait for a table. Once our table was ready, we were taken far from the main dining area to a dark, back corner that’s in a narrow corridor near the kitchen and the rear exit. Not much atmosphere when you’re hemmed in by two brick walls and a constant flow of employees and guests marching past your table.

My wife and I ordered beer and my daughter ordered cocktails. Fifteen minutes later the waitress came by and said our drinks would be ready soon. My beer arrived warm, no foamy head floating on top. My daughter’s cocktail was watery. My wife’s beer took a few minutes longer (but at least hers arrived ice cold!). My burger was very good; however, it arrived with no ketchup, no mayo, and no mustard. I know this is a pizza place, but if you’re going to serve burgers, please have the basics covered. And the napkins. They are small and thin and each guest gets one. Try to eat as neatly as possible. This can be challenging with their burgers. I would recommend asking for extras before your food arrives.

Overall it was a mediocre experience. I’ve had better experiences here. Hopefully this was an off...

If you have been to a mellow mushroom before, you know what to expect... A pizza restaurant that looks like it is run by Cheech & Chong. Aesthetically, this location does not disappoint either way. Perched right on the main roundabout of downtown Franklin, it is currently busy at every normal eating time... Walking up and getting a table only occurs during off hours. Pizzas and Italian sandwiches may be the main items at any mellow mushroom, but the menu also offers several impressive options for the job pizza lover... Some of the large salads are a great alternative. The pizza itself is often unique, enough that they may deserve a Ben & Jerry clever name. I wouldn't be surprised to see A CHUNKY MONKEY pizza that had banana as a topping. Just kidding... That is a joke... Or a million dollar idea. The staff is mostly young and pleasant, many having grown up in Franklin. I struggled in my own review between giving this a 3 or 4 star. The ingredient quality is high, but the food may not be worth the potential long wait for a table, or to get served.
