I really liked visiting Pinkerton Park. We didn't specifically intend to stop at the park, but we were in the area and wanted to give the kids a place to run around. I am glad that we did stop. The park has a lot of good amenities for both kids and adults a like. For the kids, there are 3 playgrounds. 2 of them are open playgrounds, and the other is completely enclosed with a small wall. I like having the wall because I can hang out by the entrance without worrying about the kids getting out. With that said, the main reason I didn't give the park 5 stars is because of the state of the playground. It is pretty run down, and doesn't seem to have been maintained very much. On the adult side, there are some nice pavilions with grills and built in corn-hole boards. There is even an outdoor ping-pong table, with a ping-pong ball dispenser (for a fee of course). There is a nice running/walking path that runs through the park. I don't know the total length of it. There are a few areas where you can hang up a hammock in the tree line. And a bridge that crosses over the creek that runs along the border of the park. You can actually walk down to the creek in a few spots, and there is a canoe/kayak launch. I would definitely bring my kids back to visit this park again if we are...

This park is one of the best around the Franklin/Coolsprings area. It has something for everyone. Kids get an amazing playground, seriously it's cool. There is a nice greenway that wraps around the park, complete with circuit training stations, if that's your thing. There are wide open fields to throw frisbee. Pavilions to have lunch under or to just rest. Plenty of beautiful mature trees for shade in the summer. Hiking up to Fort Granger is a must too! The history is a bit haunting but its worth the respect.
EXCLUSIVE TIP: At the far end of the fort you will see a path that veers off behind a bench. If you follow that path, you will end up at a set of railroad tracks. Take a left and walk on the tracks over the (Harpeth) river, its fun! Once the tracks end (on 1st street) take another left, follow the tree line on the sidewalk and you will find the bridge that leads straight back to the...
Read moreAnother great park in the Nashville area! Tinkerbell playground was so adorable and huge ! Lots of room for many kids. The trails were also very cool! There is also a trail off the paved one that is around the park that people mainly use for jogging and such, and it's really neat! It isn't for small children, but my 7 year old did fine. It's up a steep incline that is rocky, but after that, it's a wooden platform and then a grassy trail. There are also little plaques stating history facts about the war and after the war. The park is huge and has so many obstacles for kids, there was a rope jungle gym to climb, a whole wooden castle theme playground, swings, slides, a little log and rock obstacle course, little rock climbing formations, they have outside cement bench and table with outlets, they have a cement ping pong table and the equipment to play cornhole, just need the hackey sacs. It was a beautiful view and experience....
