I wonโt be going back to this location again. Recently, the store has made a change in the way they greet customers in the drive thru, and the person taking my order will say something along the lines of, โHi, my name is XYZ, whatโs yours?โ I donโt understand why anyone would need to know my name when Iโm going through the drive thru.
This probably seems like a weird thing to complain about but to me, being asked this question is significant. The question is intrusive and completely unnecessary - Iโm in the drive thru, no one needs to know which name to call out when my order is ready, like they might in-store.
I think the intent is to be friendly but this goes beyond what is needed to have a polite and friendly interaction in the drive thru. We donโt need to be on a first-name basis.
Store management should consider that some people may choose the drive thru specifically because it limits interaction with others. If a person has social anxiety or is very introverted, for example, it might make them feel incredibly uncomfortable to be approached on overly familiar terms by a stranger. Again, I donโt need to be on a first name basis with the person taking my order in order to have a friendly interaction.
It might be different if the person taking my order said, โHi, my name is XYZ, would you like to share your name?โ or something along those lines. That would be more polite, in my opinion, to give someone the option to share their name, instead of putting them on the spot and asking, โwhatโs your name?โ
Again, I know this is strange to complain about. But it makes me incredibly uncomfortable to be asked my name in this situation. I just want to get coffee, I donโt want to make friends. I donโt want to make up a different name either - I just shouldnโt be put in a position to have to offer up any name at all - itโs no oneโs business.
I just hate this change and it seems like itโs here to stay. So I will not return to this...
ย ย ย Read moreWow, just WOW! Iโve never been ignored so badly in my life by 4 people all at once. Walked in at 7 with no one in the store and maybe a couple of cars in drive thru. We said hello and one person said hello. We stood at the counter for 5 minutes while 2 people worked drive thru orders. Two people, not doing orders, walked back and forth doing not sure what. One person came to a computer kiosk at the edge of the counter, had on a headset but was talking to no one and didnโt speak or acknowledge us standing there ready to order, instead tapping away at her screen. A man with a ponytail came up to the counter and crossed some things off a list, literally 2 feet away from us and then walked away. He never looked up or said a word. I looked around and a friendly African American girl working the window smiled and waved but she couldnโt help us because sheโs working the window. I couldnโt believe they literally all walked around and not one person came to take our order. We walked out and on the way out the girl working the window wished us a good day. I was so insulted, and couldnโt believe the lack of customer service. Iโm sure the African American girl wouldโve helped us if she could. She was clearly the only person there that cared and had some semblance of customer service skills. Owner needs to give that girl a raise. The rest need a...
ย ย ย Read moreI love Starbucks and have great experiences at most every location, however, this morning when I stopped for my usual drink (Venti Vanilla Iced coffee with classic and cream) and a free bakery item (because of the new stars system, which by the way is AWESOME) I was a little disappointed. I pulled up and placed my order and let the barista know that I was using stars for a free bakery item. She was cheerful and let me know my total and I drove around. Another barista scanned my barcode and took card to pay for the rest (something like 1.20). He said the rest would be 4 dollars and some changed so I asked if it took my stars already. He replied very hastily and not very nicely "I didnt know you wanted to use stars." So he cancelled the order an rang it up correctly. I grabbed my coffee and headed to work only to find that it was rang in as a plain iced coffee with no classic and nonfat milk. I feel like I wasted my time and money. I will continue to go to Starbucks, but will likely not stop at this...
