Let me start by saying, the food is terrific! Had been ordering here about once a week for many many months, my last two orders, very disappointed. I hesitated leaving a review here after my first issue, after the second, I feel it's a must.
The first issue was resolved by means of a refund on one item from my order, I had ordered numerous items as it was for the family, only mine was wrong. Being a diabetic, rice isn't exactly the best thing for me, but I had ordered the curry fried rice beef, only to get home and discover I received basil fried rice, with no protein but the veggies in there. But like I said, this was corrected, and other than a diabetic having to wait longer to eat, which if you know anything about diabetics, can get very dangerous...
Second issue, after deciding that mistakes can happen to anybody, they refunded me, I would give it another go. I ordered my fried rice, the same way I always do, no onion and extra egg, got home once again, and even though it said extra egg on my receipt (much like my first issue which had the correct item on my receipt, but wrong item in the bag) no extra egg in the meal. Look, I get that it's only a dollar up charge (which is ridiculous, I mean, a dozen eggs goes for 1.29 at the grocery store, which means that one egg was marked up almost 1000%) but to not receive things you've paid for, whether out of laziness or even just overlooking it isn't acceptable.
Here's my suggestion, if you screw up, make it right. Simply crediting the one item back to one's card is only admitting you screwed up, not that you care about this persons business, even when over the last year they've spent over $1000 at your establishment. Making it right would have been crediting the whole meal, or offering a few free items next go around. As far as the egg goes, when you up charge people.close to 1000% of any item at retail, then omit it from their meal, it's the same as theft.
First time I called, received my money back for my meal, second, didn't even bother to call. At this point, it's become rather evident that there is little to no quality control here, and quantity is more important than quality. If you guys want to stay in business, I whole heartedly recommend being conscientious of people's orders, and take the extra 15 seconds to make sure everything is right, especially if they've incurred an extra charge...
Read moreBrought friends to Sweet Basil to experience this amazing and surprising food, and it was better the second time around. I was amazed that this modest strip mall store front, where you order at a counter, can have the same culinary flavor of the Michelin starred restaurants we dined at in Bangkok. It literally has me shaking my head. I don’t understand, but you must try Sweet Basil for yourself. We drive down from Walker’s Point, and it’s maybe 15 minutes, well worth the journey. If this place was downtown, or in Seattle or San Francisco, the lines would extend around the corner or on to the next block.
After living in Seattle for three years and moving to Milwaukee, I never expected to find good Asian food in Franklin of all places. While the dishes were too mild for my palate, everything was fresh and tasted delicious. Next time I'll order my food with more heat. This meal was take out, and we ordered fried rice, fried tofu, pad Thai, another noodle dish, and a curry preparation. It was a lot of food for two people, and the portions will last for three meals at least. The prices caused me to flinch. They were close to 70% less than what I would pay in Seattle. Winter may suck in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but the financial payoff makes it worth the months of chill. Pricing on the West Coast is obscene, and even though I can afford to live in Seattle, SF, LA, San Diego etc., the cost of living dilutes those cities, and diversity is non-existent. An urban experience surrounded by only the wealthy isn't...

The best way to give a quick overview of this restaurant would be to say that it is simply stunning on all levels! Let's start with the very clean and well decorated restaurant that makes you feel comfortable just walking in. If you call your order in or if you order when you get there, they have a very nice area to wait for your food. The food was well presented, exploding with multiple fresh flavors and spices! I really enjoy Thai food BUT, Sweet Basil took my love for Thai food to another level! Thank you SO much for what you do to make what comes out of the kitchen simply amazing! The last thing that needs to be mentioned is the way the staff relates to the customers. This was our first time at this restaurant and my wife had some questions. They answered all of her questions with patience and concern. We felt welcome here right from the start but the way they talked to many of the other customers was like they were chatting with family. I am guessing that these were regular visitors but the fact that they talked to people by name was impressive. Even more impressive that they helped people with their orders that could use some assistance. Start to finish, this was a fantastic visit. The food and staff will bring me back anytime I am in the area. I wish they were open more - AND I lived closer - but when you work with that much passion, you deserve some time off! Keep up...
