The food is great (only tried one soup), but the review before mine exemplifies why I'm not rating 5 stars... and yeah Melanie you're not alone! So I'm rating 1 star too because I can relate, but now know why they they run of out soup so fast and often. I'm sure there are many others who planned on a pleasant lunch, drove there, found/paid for parking, then found the closed sign. Not the customer focused quality for a Google "gem of Frederick".
Yes, it took 4 times to eat here because they were closed every time. I got there immediately at 11am when I was able to leave with soup (tried their "poor man's stew").
The reason why they sell out early and not just because it's good? They only sell soup in pints and quarts. So if someone wants an 8oz cup, they have to get a pint. Which is 8oz less more the next customer. But they sell more than soup, so it strikes me odd they close down when the soup runs out- or is everything gone? And I did not want a full pint! Had to throw it away because it sat too long while traveling! HATE throwing out food, especially really good stuff!
An 8oz cup is a standard offering. I could have tried 2 soups for the full pint, but no. Would they offer to sell me 8oz if I brought in a cup container from Wegmans, Common Market or anywhere that sells soup in the common cup size? Idk that's kind of weird to ask.
Please offer smaller quantities to customers so everyone can enjoy your delicious soups and leave your restaurant satisfied, not upset...
Read moreWe have been going to Frederick soups and comfort foods almost every Friday when we are in town. The soups are excellent, try the mulligatawny or the chicken pot pie, my favorites. They also make a really good cup of cappuccino. I'm usually too full after the soup to eat a whole sandwich but order one and take half home for later they are delicious. The menu changes often, daily? So there's always something different to try. Frederick Soups is small a little fun funky kind of place. The owners are the cooks and wait staff and are right there to help. Three or four tables inside and a couple more outside, so get there before this place gets popular. The owners are so nice l'd like to see this place do well. On the other hand it's nice to be able to go in right now and get a great bowl of soup and a sandwich with having to fight a crowd. Oh lest I forget I tried the homemade gnocchi and mushrooms and they were the best I've hade outside of Italy. Give Frederick soups and comfort foods at124 S...
Read moreI absolutely adore this place. I've made a habit of bringing new friends along as often as I can to experience the great food and folks there. The two lovely people behind the counter never fail to greet with smiles and are friendly and easy to chat with. They are always happy to provide a taste/sample when I can't make up my mind and are consistently kind. The food itself is Always Top Notch. I've legitimately never had anything bad, and I adore that the menu is always changing, growing and evolving. It's fairly standard to have a few soups/chili/chowders and then a few main course items, and often there are other offerings (I LOVE the yogurt parfaits!) Also a good selection of drinks and coffee! In any event, I highly recommend this place. It's one of my favorite places to go and I usually go at least once a month when I'm out that way and they always remember me when...
