According to their own menu they have been voted best burger in Frederick 19 yesrs in a row! So i was very excited to have choosen this restraunt for my sister and my burger night. Wow, was i disappointed! This was literally the worst burger i have ever ordered from a burger joint. On the other hand, my sister said it was literally the best! Burger she had ever had. I ordered the bleu burger. The menu stated that they make their own bleu cheese which i thought was pretty unusual. This tends to be my burger of choice when doing a burger night so i was sure i couldnt go wrong. WRONG! The beef was tough and dry!, the "bleu cheese" instead of delectable chunky crumbles on top of the burger came in the form of some kind of cheesey like sauce that was spread on top of the dry tough beef patty. And just as it did not resemble any bleu cheese i have ever seen, it also did not taste like bleu cheese! I struggle to explain what it tasted like except to say that it had a somewhat milky like aftertaste. It was inedible! I tried several times to take a bite. I thought maybe it was me. So after trying 3 small bites my opinion was not changed. It was terrible and i could not eat it! Now as for the service. Not that great. They were exceptionally busy for a Monday night when we arrived around 6ish and there appeared to be only one waitress on duty so we were very understanding as to the delay in rhe server taking our order and bringing our drinks. However, once we were served the crowd had thinned to only one or two tables of lingerers and our table of 2 so our waitress could have and should have been MUCH more attentive and present. Once the burgers were dropped at our table she never came back. Not once. Not to see how our food was, not to refresh our drinks, not to clear away dishes or glasses that were no longer needed (and the table was incredibly tiny so we could have seriously used the space), and not to hring our check! After we sat for maybe an hour 1/2 we had to flag her down to get our check and pay. Wont be going back!, Very Very limited menu and WAY to many great spots to eat around Frederick when i am here visiting my sister to settle for anything less than great. I've come to the conclusion with my sister that she was just starving after a long day in court and would have eaten anything and proclaimed it satisfying. Still remains as the worst burger joint burger ive ever had. A...

I recently visited Wags in Frederick, Virginia, drawn by their impressive claim of having won âBest Burgerâ for 27 consecutive years in a local readerâs poll. Given this stellar reputation, I was eager to try it for myself.
Wags is situated below ground level, down a set of stairs, giving it a unique, retro vibe reminiscent of a 1960s cocktail lounge. The cozy, vintage ambiance made me feel like I had stepped back in time. The space, though small, exudes character and a sense of history.
The service was top-notchâfriendly, helpful, and engaging. I ordered their famous bacon cheeseburger with chili. The burger was indeed spectacular. The beef, ground by a local butcher, was tender and flavorful, with a freshness that spoke to high-quality ingredients. The cheddar cheese was perfectly melted, the bacon was crispy, and the bun was soft and fluffy.
While the chili was tasty, it contained bell peppers and beans, which wasnât my preference. Iâm used to a simpler chili, more akin to a hot dog or hamburger sauce without these ingredients. However, the chili was still well-made and complemented the burger nicely.
Overall, Wags lived up to its reputation. The burger was out of this world, and I would definitely return if I lived in the area. They also offer a full bar and attract a solid local crowd, adding to the lively and...
Read moreVery basic, no-frills dive bar. Laid back atmosphere on a basement level.
Menu is mostly comprised of sandwiches, burgers, meat, and fries. No craft beers. I don't recall if they have a dessert menu or if it was very limited. Their prices are really good, and we've had positive experiences with the waitresses: they were efficient, direct, and checked up on us periodically. They were friendly in spite of the fact that they were covering all of the tables, as far as I could tell.
One of the best burgers I have had. The burger would warrant a five star review considering the price and flavor; the sides are good, but not remarkable. Had a mixed drink that was a special that was surprisingly good.
If you're looking for something more upscale in terms of ambiance, or would like a menu with more variety and/ or have food allergies (fries are fried in peanut oil and I'm not sure that there are many gluten-free or vegan options), this wouldn't be a good fit. Also, as far as I'm aware, the only way to access the entrance is by going down a staircase leading to the basement, which might rule out some people who may need accessibility accommodations.
However, if you're looking for an inexpensive, delicious burger, greasy food, and cheap drinks, this is a great spot. Bonus that you can hang out in a sweatshirt and jeans and not feel...
