Affogato Europa Cafe — Restaurant in Fredericksburg

was really hoping Fredericksburg finally had a good specialty coffee shop. I am a barista of 6 years and a big coffee lover. I tried an iced latte from here and it was a bit of a letdown given that they have a great slayer machine and serve stumptown which is usually pretty solid coffee. there was some sort of foam on the top which is not normal for an iced latte to have and a weird sweetness to the milk that did not compliment the espresso well (which was very weak to begin with). I have a feeling they maybe used sweetener or simple syrup and shook it up? Some people may like this but when you order an iced latte from a shop it should always come unsweetened unless you ask for sweetener. I didn’t have the chance to try anything else, but the food looked good and I’d consider going back to try that sometime, but not the latte.

For Fredericksburg, it’s ok, but the espresso drinks could really use some work. Not a very cozy spot but that’s just a limitation of the space and not really their fault. I’d recommend giving it a shot and seeing how you like it, especially if you like sweet, milky drinks.

I should also mention the workers were kind and helpful and made my drink quickly.

Affogato in Fredericksburg, Virginia was a great pit stop for us to get some coffee and snacks on our way back from Washington, DC. As you enter, you can feel the positive vibes that should be an essential characteristic of a coffee shop, I think.

For drinks, we got the Chai Tea Latte and an Iced Mocha. Both the latte and the mocha hit the spot, providing us with both the caffeine and the energy we needed for the rest of our journey. We also got the Spinach and Cheese burek, the Balkan pastry filled with savoury spinach and cheese. It tasted great too. Their drinks and food list is quite extensive including a long list of coffee, pastries, paninis and so much more.

The cafe is indeed a labor of love bringing the taste of the Balkans to Virginia. The atmosphere inside is quite homey and the staff tries their best to cater to your requests.

It’s located in a strip mall, so there’s sufficient parking outside. The Balkan art on the walls is great too. Overall, we had a 10/10...

I absolutely adore this place. The owner is so very kind and helpful. I had a Vegan apple cinnamon breakfast pastry and oatmilk cinnamon roll latte coffee this morning. I normally don’t order cinnamon-roll or sweet- style drinks because they are often just too sweet. Regular coffee also usually makes me pretty jittery so I often defer to decaf; however I didn’t do that here. I was pleasantly surprised that the coffee was the perfect balance of flavor and not too sweet. It also didn’t make me jittery at all.

I left for an appointment and came back later with some food and asked if it would be okay if I ate it there while I worked and the guy let me. I’ve been back again since because I just like the experience.
