Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen — Restaurant in Fredericksburg

The Wait We were seated right away with a large party of nine. We were celebrating a birthday. We did come in on a Wednesday around 4 o’clock so it was not that busy, seated immediately.

Social Distancing The restaurant has closed every other table for social distancing. If this was a concern of yours, cheddars was really good at taking care of this. All servers were wearing masks.

The Table Clean environment. One of my pet peeve’s is the floor so has food or crumbs all over it. I am happy to say everything was clean and picked up from previous guests

The Service Our server was Jennifer, she immediately greeted us and asked us for drinks. She understood that we were waiting for the rest of our party, so she made sure that we had drinks and offered us appetizers. She was very understandable and patient knowing that we were waiting for others to arrive.

Once the rest of our party arrived, Jennifer obtained the drink orders from the remaining guests in a timely manner as well as taken our order. As far as I saw the food came out correctly and in good time.

Food There was a couple things with the food that I saw that could have been better. Jennifer brought out these honey butter croissants when I arrived, 6 to be exact. Not enough for my 9 guests but too much for those that were there when she brought them out. When the rest of my guests arrived, what she brought out was earlier was cold and went uneaten. Not only wasteful but inconsiderate was new ones were not offered when they arrived. I myself got the pecan salad with the grilled salmon. The size of the salmon atop my salad was very small. To charge extra for a protein and to be that small was very disappointing. There were comments made from my guests about it so I know I wasn’t the only one who thought this. Several of my guests got soup - the bowls had soup dripping down them. The expeditor could pay a little better to this type of detail.

Dishes- empty dishes were everywhere. They were not only taken away as we were done with them; they weren’t taken away at all. I understand there are other guests and other tables. Eventually dishes should be taken away, they weren’t. Glasses went empty and unordered to be refilled. Every time we were checked on, one end of the table was checked upon instead of asking and various points of the table therefore those that needed drinks could never stop and ask Jennifer. I would suggest checking and being a little more observant of all the guests when walking by. The items I mention don’t even involve a conversation, just being attentive to details. A good server can make sure guests get what they ask for, a great server can be two steps ahead by getting his/her guests what they need before they even ask.

The Prices I was pleasantly surprised when we saw the prices. I would say cheddars is definitely affordable. I’m glad that my son picked this place because we already decided that we are paying for everybody. LOL 😳 I told my son that he can pick this place anytime. 👌🏻

Overall The environment and the cost will bring us back. Cheddars seems like a positive addition to...

Updated we will be trying there take out service again tonight to see if I have the same experience

UPDATED** So me and my 14 year old daughter gave this place another chance...This time we went inside for dine in And I gotta tell you the butter bread was so very good( Did not get this with my takeout order) But we had alot of fun the server was great and the food was 10x times better!!! I will try take out and place a online order again to see if they will pass or fail again

A Friend asks me to go here and try out the food..So 50.00 ordered online to pickup..Empty as could be but still waited 12mins for my food to come to me after ordering online and waiting the 20mins to cook that it showed. The 14oz ribeye was way under cooked for med rare, and burnt or bad Sear on outside, Cut it up alot of fat, after cutting it looked like meat paste(See Pics). The baked potato was overcooked with only salt no butter, Which explains why it was burnt outside and hard on the inside. KIDS MEAL Fried Shrimp and fries, the shrimp was great but it wasn't golden brown outside like it should be, and was very doughy taste, had to remove the crust for my kid, Chocolate milk very small and had ICE in it, Everyone knows you don't put ice in milk it will melt and water it down and way to much ice for that matter after pouring it out and weighing it had only 3oz of milk very sad...The Peach Tea was a Very huge hit though. Will never order nor eat there again...50.00 order down in the trash...If manager would like to see it I have pictures and along with saving it cause the only thing good was the crispy fries and the shrimp once removed from crust...Would still like something done about how dark the parking and area is....And the Peach Tea was not at all good it was missing something

Enjoy your food with high prices yes it happened with cost going up, But cooking with pride and knowing how to cook are not cost helpful..Had better...

I'm writing here because I ran out of room on the kiosk. I have many years of experience as a server, so I try to be understanding when people have an off night. I'm also not a picky eater by any means. With that being said, tonight was one of the most disappointing experiences we've had here; and it's one of our favorite restaurants. We came to start our celebration of my partners birthday. We ordered drinks first. A dirty martini and a painkiller. A while goes by and we order an appetizer. Our appetizer comes, we finish our appetizer, and we're still waiting for our drinks. It wasn't busy at all. It also felt like our server was avoiding our table. When our drinks came out, my martini was not recognizable as a martini aside from the shape of the glass. It was crystal clear with no garnish. I asked him to bring it back, as that isn't what I ordered. He came back super quick with the same drink. Just a squirt of something (not olive juice) in it. I didn't say anything because it was clear my server was exhausted. This is his second job and I completely understand. My partner tried his painkiller and it had sat at the bar for a very long time, so it was watered down and tasted very odd. Our food was brought immediately after the drinks. And unfortunately my food was wrong. Both sides were incorrect. The server took it back and corrected it. My salad was wilted and drowned in salad dressing. My partner only had a sip or two of his drink and it made him nauseous, so he couldn't eat his food. I ate my salmon and we left after paying an almost $100 bill. I would just really like to understand what happened as we've never had an experience like this at Cheddar's. Thanks for reading this...
