I grew up in the area and would always come to this spot since I was 16 Years old, but due to a previous issue with them, I hadn't returned in 2-3years and finally decided to give them another try.
I told my friends about Koya Sushi because I figured, it's been awhile, maybe they're better now and I remember their prices being pretty affordable! A few of us wanted the AYCE sushi so the server told us about this deal where we could split the sushi. 1 full price order, and we could share it with a friend and all they'd have to pay was 15 dollars or so. We said yes, we'd like to do that, it sounded like an amazing deal! She went to get an approval from her boss and came back saying that they don't do that deal anymore after she just told me that they did. -I thought this was strange!- (this adds to context for later)
We are almost done with our second round of sushi and my friend bites down on something really hard, all of us at the table hear it, turn, and ask if she's okay, and that she should spit whatever it was out. Turns out, it's a piece of glass that was in her sushi! We bring it up to the staff there at the time and all they have to say is"we don't know what that is", and they wanted to take it away, but before they did something told me to take a video. Always Get Proof! After the rest of us finish our meal, we begin asking for a refund for the friend who had glass in her sushi. One person said that the boss isn't here, then she says I don't have his number, and that she doesn't know the next time he'd be back. Huh? So we asked another Cashier person if she had the number and she called him and told him that it was a hard piece in there and all he wanted to discount us was 7$ from the meal. By this time, we are all very mad. We aren't the type to cause issues where none need to be, but A few of us had worked in restaurants before and would never treat our customers like that.
WE GOT HIS NUMBER AND CALLED HIM, he immediately hung up on my friend and ran to the door to meet us from the back(I thought he wasn't there) p.s. we had seen him serving tables just before the incident. He asked us to show him the piece of glass, but his servers took it(our mistake for not taking it, but at least I had my video) He kept saying over and over that it was a piece of rice in the video, but there was a part that showed the translucency of the glass and we showed him that, then he said It's fish bone, then he said it was a piece of chopstick that broke off. IT WAS NEITHER! My friend saved the sushi that she had to spit up and was checking to see if there were any more little pieces of glass. He then asked her if he could dig through her spit up food(bare handed) to double check. After this, he made us dig through other people's dirty plates claiming that the dishes hadn't been washed yet and so our plates would be in there. We checked and none of the plates were ours(so we dug through dirty plates for no reason at all) it was humiliating because he had us do this in front of all the other customers that were in there and everyone kept staring at us! He then began to gaslight us when we couldn't find anything that there actually was none and that we just wanted to get free food, because we asked to split the sushi(his server brought it up, we had no knowledge that places did that) , he told us that we are just trying to get free food and assured him that it's not about that at all. I even told him, I have a debit card that I am using to pay for everyone's food, I am not broke, but it's just ridiculous to have to pay for food that had hazardous material in it and go through hell and back to prove it, evidence or not.

Read moreKiya Sushi is an absolute gem of a Japanese restaurant that left my friend and me completely satisfied with its delicious offerings and warm hospitality. From the moment we stepped inside, we were captivated by the cozy ambiance and the enticing aroma of authentic Japanese cuisine.
To start our culinary adventure, we ordered the Salmon Shioyaki and Salmon Teriyaki. The salmon was incredibly fresh and expertly grilled to perfection. The delicate balance of flavors in both dishes was exquisite, with the Shioyaki showcasing a beautiful saltiness that enhanced the natural taste of the salmon, while the Teriyaki delighted us with its sweet and savory glaze. The fish simply melted in our mouths, leaving us craving for more.
Alongside our main courses, we indulged in a bowl of comforting Tofu Soup. The broth was rich, fragrant, and brimming with umami goodness. The soft tofu and assortment of vegetables added a delightful texture, making each spoonful a delight. It was the perfect choice to complement the grilled salmon.
We couldn't resist trying the Japanese Edamame Seeds (Soy Beans) as well. The lightly salted pods were addictive, and we couldn't stop popping them into our mouths. They were a refreshing and healthy snack that added a delightful crunch to our meal.
To our surprise and delight, the restaurant offered us complementary ice cream as a sweet conclusion to our feast. The smooth, creamy texture of the ice cream combined with its delightful flavors truly exceeded our expectations. It was a lovely gesture that added an extra touch of thoughtfulness to our dining experience.
The service at Kiya Sushi was impeccable. The staff was attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about the food they served. They were more than happy to answer our questions and provide recommendations, ensuring we had a memorable dining experience.
Overall, our visit to Kiya Sushi was nothing short of exceptional. Read moreMy kids went to American High and they recommended this restaurant since they had sushi here while going to school once in a while. It was a hot day and my son wanted to have sushi and we need a restaurant with AC. This one seems to have one. It’s in the small shopping center across from AHS. The parking lot is not so big for many businesses on a busy day, but it’s Friday and we found a parking space. It was busy so we had to wait for about 1/2 hour outside. The restaurant is small and filled with people, the AC was on just enough to be comfortable. The menu is quite big with many different types of special rolls. My son ordered most of plates since it’s his territory. The prices are quite reasonable, may be for students around here. The service is quite fast and attentive. For 4 people we only need to order 6 special rolls and every one was full. The rolls were tasty. I like the deep fried roll, spicy tuna roll, and all other rolls, LOL. I ordered the Sapporo beer but it never came so no drink for me. The free ice cream was a nice touch. Good food, reasonably priced, attentive services, my kid likes it, it’s...
