Rice N Shine Buffet — Restaurant in Frenchtown Charter Township

There wasn’t much variety in the food choices. The chicken and broccoli dish was cold in some areas and warm in others, suggesting it wasn’t heated evenly. The lo mein resembled spaghetti noodles in taste and texture. Both the sweet and sour chicken and General Tso’s chicken had a flavor that seemed like a mix of BBQ sauce and sweet and sour sauce, which was unexpected.

We also sampled other items such as the spring roll, meatballs, chicken, and mac and cheese, all of which tasted like they had been prepackaged and frozen. The coconut shrimp did not resemble what you would typically expect of coconut shrimp, it tasted more like it had been drizzled with coconut oil rather than having a true coconut flavor or texture. The sushi was decent, but the wasabi lacked heat and had an artificial-looking green color, possibly from food coloring.

The restaurant itself was clean, which we appreciated, but the smell of bleach from our table was a bit overwhelming. It was strong enough to be distracting during the meal.

The service was also disappointing. We had to try really hard to get the attention of the servers just to get drink refills, which made the experience even more frustrating. The food presentation and selection looked much more appealing in the photos online...

Food was horrid. Barely fit for human consumption. No provision on here, but if there was, ZERO STARS. Even when it was mentioned to the "manager" about the food, no offer of refund, not even a partial one was given. Waitress tried her darndest to make things right despite how impolite and downright RUDE the administration was. Never returning. AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!

Why should I even bother calling you to give feedback when the feedback that was given while we were there wasn't even heeded? Your server told us that there were multiple incidents of bad food that was also given as feedback to your manager. Sorry, you don't get a second chance to make a first impression.. Good day.

1 Year later update

Food has gone from bad, to worse. My child almost rolled her ankle tonight because of the uneven floors in this place. Bathrooms weren't even clean. Exterior of the building is barely maintained. Facades crumbling because of poorly kept up maintenance. Holes on the exterior big enough to facilitate a rat infestation. This place is so bad, I would not be surprised at all to see it on an episode Gordon Ramsey's "Kitchen Nightmares." Place desperately needs a visit from the health department, if not the building department/code...

Updated: Nice response back! I said I was not greeted at all, but the person that came in after me was greeted. I was willing to wait for the order, however I didn't like how I was ignored! Huge difference. I see by your replies to negative reviews you don't care to make anything right. Great business. SMH.

Staff is so rude whenever I came in to pick-up orders to deliver to paying customers! They don't care about us drivers. I came in to get an order picked up, the staff looked at me when I came in, but nobody greeted me nor asked what I was there for. I even tried to speak and an employee ignored me and walked to the back. Then, as I am waiting had the nerve to ask the driver that came in after me who they were waiting for! I was still willing to wait, but when I asked about how long the customer's order would take I was told he didn't know. He just said he bags the food as it comes out. Not professional at all and I unassigned the order and haven't returned to get the orders from this place! I'll never be a paying customer here just for the way I've been treated...
