If you’re anywhere near Fresno, California and you haven’t tried Hammies Smash Burgers yet, you’re seriously missing out on one of the best burger experiences in town. From the moment you pull into the lot, you can smell the aroma of sizzling beef on the griddle, and it immediately sets the tone for what’s about to be a truly mouthwatering meal. This isn’t your typical fast food burger—Hammies has perfected the art of the smash burger, and you’ll be thinking about it long after the last bite.
The first thing that grabs you is the vibe. It’s laid-back, casual, and has that hometown feel, but with serious attention to quality and flavor. Whether you're sitting down to eat or taking it to go, the staff greets you with a smile, makes you feel welcome, and gets your food out hot and fresh every single time. They clearly care about their customers and take pride in what they do, and it shows in both the service and the food.
Now let’s talk about the burger itself—because wow. The patties are smashed thin on the grill so they get those perfectly crispy, caramelized edges that are packed with flavor. But they’re still juicy in the center, which is a tough balance to strike. The beef tastes fresh and high-quality, not greasy or bland like some other places. It’s seasoned just right and paired with soft, toasted buns that hold up to all the goodness inside without falling apart.
Then there’s the cheese—melty, gooey, and spread from edge to edge. It blends into the meat in that perfect smash burger way, creating a harmony of textures and flavors. Add to that the grilled onions (a must) and their signature house sauce, which is tangy, creamy, and completely addictive. Every bite is a perfect combination of crisp, savory, creamy, and just the right amount of messy.
And if you like heat, do not sleep on their jalapeño burger—it’s got a kick without overpowering the other flavors. The jalapeños are fresh and add the perfect crunch. They also have a crispy bacon option, which adds another layer of richness and crunch that burger lovers will definitely appreciate. Whether you keep it classic or customize your burger, you’ll walk away satisfied.
The fries? Golden, crispy, and seasoned to perfection. They’re the ideal companion to the burgers, and they don’t skimp on portion size either. I’ve tried both the regular and the loaded fries, and both were killer. The loaded version comes piled with toppings that mirror the burgers—cheese, sauce, grilled onions—and they’re a meal in themselves.
One of the things I really appreciate is that they keep their menu focused. They’re not trying to be everything to everyone—they do smash burgers, and they do them right. It’s clear they’ve put in the work to perfect their craft instead of chasing trends or gimmicks. And they don’t need to—the food speaks for itself.
Hammies also keeps their prices reasonable for what you’re getting. You can taste the quality in every bite, but you don’t walk away feeling like you overpaid. In today’s food scene where a decent burger can set you back way too much, Hammies delivers big flavor without breaking the bank. That’s rare and refreshing.
If you’re a foodie, a burger lover, or just someone who appreciates a well-made meal, Hammies deserves a spot at the top of your list. Whether it’s your first visit or your tenth, the experience is consistently excellent, and you’ll leave craving your next one. It’s the kind of place you tell your friends about, the kind of spot that turns first-timers into regulars.
In a city full of food options, Hammies Smash Burgers stands out because they stick to what they do best—and they do it with passion, quality, and heart. It’s more than just a burger joint; it’s a local gem that’s redefining what a great...
Read moreIt was ok. Pretty underwhelming, truthfully. The patties were underseasoned, very bland. There was barely any sauce just a squirt on top of my fries and a squirt on the burger. Couldn't taste that either. SOMEHOW CHEESE, doesn't come with the burger so make sure you request it. In total, my order was well over $20. I would have requested for more sauce on the side but that would have ballooned my order to $25, as I was already over budget. I just came back from EASY STREET in LA (picture included, the one with the jalapeno), pumped up about trying something similar here, it is not even close. The difference is night and day. I will come back and try this place one more time. *UPDATE More of the same, big prices and big disappointments! And how is cheese still not included in your $20 burger meal? On the plus, the INDIAN guys that run the place are nice and cool people, though can you have a little more diversity in whom you hire... I really don't enjoy being nickel and dimed on my $20 burger, especially when it didn't really taste all that good. It's still 2 STARS. Do yourself a favor, go a few blocks west. Save $10, go to IN AND OUT, and order the...
Read moreIt's a good little burger joint. This is my second time trying this place. I must say my burger was better the second time around than the first time. There was a lot more juice, the first burger I had was a bit on the dry side. (I do know that making smash burgers can vary with everyone, but that's just my take) The fries were also more well done and crispy than before, even though I didn't personally ask for extra crispy fries. Also, might just be me but who runs out of BBQ sauce! That's the highlight of a delicious burger for myself!
The environment inside is nice, has sort of a 90's dinner theme to it or like a pit stop dinner vibe, but it also feels a bit too packed like you're on top of one another. It would be nice if they added some outdoor seating, I've seen some people place orders and just eat by their cars or in them simply because they don't want to eat inside with everyone in that space.
Overall it's a nice spot, great presentation of the burger when you first open the box, the fries are nicely placed too.
Can't wait to see where this...
