Applebee’s has always been a reliable spot for a satisfying meal—great flavor, decent portions, and a menu with something for everyone. The food keeps me coming back, but the experience around takeout could use some improvement. Ordering online and picking up inside should be straightforward, but being prompted to leave a tip during this process doesn’t make sense. I placed the order myself, came inside to get it, and there was no added service involved—so why the expectation to tip? The only time tipping isn’t pushed is when paying with cash, so I guess that’s what I’ll start doing. Still, it creates an off-putting feeling when picking up food and being asked for a tip, especially when there’s no clear explanation of where it’s going or why it’s needed. I understand and appreciate the hard work of restaurant staff, but tipping should reflect service—not just order fulfillment. Businesses need to find a better balance that doesn’t make customers feel uncomfortable or obligated when no service beyond the basics is provided. Great food, but I hope Applebee’s rethinks how tipping is handled for pickup orders.

Great experience at Applebee's today. We went just before noon and it wasn't too busy, which we enjoyed. Our waiter was great... he was pleasant, helpful, and just gave overall great service. We did the 2 for $30 on the menu... opting for the BBQ boneless chicken. Then I got the 8oz steak, with fries (and a side of mexi-ranch to dip them in, which I highly suggest you try), and my father got the bourbon burger. It all tasted great. They've added a new dessert since the last time I went, which is the Cinnabon cinnamon rolls, so we tried those. We were not disappointed, and they were soooooo delicious!! I would get them again in a heartbeat. If you are in the Columbia Heights/Fridley area, definitely stop by this Applebee's. It's located right off 694 and Central Ave, heading south... right next to Menards.

First visit, and was very impressed with the Mushroom Swiss burger. I expected something puny, and instead it was huge, and very flavorful. The only disappointment, was our server, Kion, who after initially taking our order, all but disappeared. Someone else brought our food, and he didn't show up again until offering dessert, and then dropping our bill by the table. We had hoped to receive an offer refills, which never came. Perhaps some coaching or retraining will give this young man a passion and urgency to provide a higher level of customer service. Check it out for yourself and see what you think!

My family and I came here to celebrate my cousins’s birthday. She has down syndrome, and she wanted to come here. I was extremely disappointed in our service. When we got there for our 6:30pm reservation, the tables were not ready. After we were seated, our waiter did not check on us periodically. My kids went over an hour without a refill. We did not have utensils on our tables and when our food came out we had to ask for something to eat with. Grab the utensils, instead of handing them to each individual the waiter just set them in the middle of the table. As each guest arrived, they did not receive a menu nor were they asked if they would like something to drink. We constantly found ourselves looking for our server and to ask for things. We tried our best to distract ourselves and stay busy, but the lack of care was very irritating. We constantly waited 15+ minutes before he will come back to our table just to bring one item. I am 37 weeks pregnant and asked for a medium steak when I ordered. My steak was raw and because the lighting was so dim I did not notice it initially. When I informed the waiter, he took my steak to the back and brought it back out 15 minutes later. I noticed that other tables he was helping was experiencing some issues as well. Unfortunately, the waiter looked like he was possibly drunk or just out of it. He had no care or attentiveness about him. Because I use to waitress, and I understand how hectic it can be, I tried to be as patient as possible, but after over an hour of terrible service, I chose to speak to the manager. The manager was very friendly and asked if I would like a new waiter. I told her yes, and she helped my table the rest of the way unfortunately this was at the end of us being there. She did, however, make it a better experience for us! She was very attentive and even took the steak off of my bill which I appreciated. My bill came was a little over $70. This was my first and last time at this location! I will not be going back in the future. I have never received such horrible service at Applebee’s. The one positive note I will say is that the food was good but it was not enough to make up for the...

Ordered takeout at this Applebee’s when I got there everything was normal when I got home I looked at my food. I ordered a rack of ribs, fries, and a side salad. The rack of ribs were dry. Seem like they were sitting out for about an hour or something, the fries were good, but when I got to my salad and took a bite, I saw a bug in my salad so that threw off my whole entire meal a few days later in the middle of the night, I get a text from my bank saying that there was an update on my transaction. The update was that this Applebee’s charged me twice on separate days!! my total came up to 2755 and then my second charge was for 2755 as well so they double charged me!! I will not be going back here, no matter what when I went to talk to the manager about the double charge. She was rude. She didn’t care about what was going on. She also stated that there was four other people that came in that said the same thing and she did absolutely nothing. I didn’t complain about the food being cold or dry and having a bug in my salad, but I am now pissed and complaining about the double charge that was definitely unnecessary and wrong that manager should find a new job and kick rocks!! if your not a people person why even work at a restaurant and to be a manager!! Just wow save your money or find a different location! This place is definitely not worth a dime from the managers, waiters, food and even watered down drinks!! I can definitely say this is probably the worst location I have ever ate at!!...

My experience starts with higher prices, wait staff that is less attentive and have less and less responsibilities to their own tables. My next thing is the quality of food just doesn't seem to match their pricing. Every time I order the same thing my plate comes out greasier and greasier.... It's like the Cook's think I need more butter in my life instead of just using it as a form of keeping the food from sticking to the pan. The end of the meal comes and we're supposed to use this tablet that they're trying to trick kids into using and charging for games. This again takes less responsibility away from the server yet when I swipe my card the first thing they try to do is take 20% off the bill for their tip. I have to hand enter my card information because the card reader can't read it. The server then hovers at the very end because they realize this is where the tip comes in. It's getting to the point where Applebee's is a step better than a fast food restaurant. It's embarrassing that I have to tell the server that their condiments are empty on the table I have to flag them down when I need things that they should be checking on, and the food has become subpar. I'm not sure what Applebee's is going for but it is not customer retention and appreciation. I will continue to eat at Applebee's but I will no longer tip if it's my job to do everything but bring the food...
