Edit: I do NOT have the wrong business per the suggestion of the person who replied to this. Being that this was our REHEARSAL DINNER for our WEDDING, we have quite a few pictures that were taken that night. Our wedding coordinator was a person named Allison (alleged friend of the owner) and our wedding venue was Venue at Frisco Town Center which is caddy corner/across the street from this restaraunt. I'm very aware of who and what I am reviewing.
We had our rehearsal dinner here being that it was literally across the street from our wedding venue. Our wedding coordinator said she was friends with the owner/executive chef and it would be a great place for us to have it there. All 4 of us (myself, my now wife, our wedding coordinator, and the owner of our wedding venue) went a few weeks prior to make the arrangements. We met with the owner/executive chef to talk details. During the conversation he actually asked us if we would "chip in" for music that night. (It was going to be a Friday evening dinner and they generally have live music that day anyways). I was completely taken back. They were already planning to have live music, and we were bringing 20 people for food and drinks. How rude and unprofessional to request that we pay for your band that night. Our tab alone would've brought you plenty of business. And quite frankly, we wouldn't have cared if there was a live band or not! Would that have been our preference? Sure! But was it a make or break? Absolutely not. That was just a ridiculous request to ask potential customers bringing you a good amount of business. But we decided to follow through, made our reservations. (We did NOT chip in for THEIR music.) The night of our dinner, the owner was visibly rude, he acted as if we were an inconvenience because they didn't have our set up ready. (We're paying customers!) We ended up having a few extra people that were more than willing to squish in or sit at a different table. He was just rude about the whole thing. The food was great. Unfortunately one of my bridesmaids did not receive her food. She was the only one, and when she asked where her food was the waitress told her she must've forgot to put it in. No big deal, mistakes happen. But she didn't get to eat with us, she had to get it to go and they didn't offer anything to make up for it with the bill or her drink tab. No discount, or comp. Nothing! I thought that was...
Read moreI drove by this place a few times over the last month and it gave me a very chill, neighborhood not pretentious type of vibe. Yes, a non pretentious vibe in the heart of Frisco. Is that even possible? I'm here to tell you it is!
Went for brunch on a Sunday and sat outside where they have a big outdoor patio area. It was a bit cold but they had outdoor mushroom heaters so it was all nice and toasty.
What impressed me about this place was the quality of the food. When they brought out our plates, I could tell by the colors that everything was super fresh and well cooked. Secondly, Didi's has all sorts of eclectic music acts playing music at the patio area which is a major bonus. When we were there they had a reggae band jamming out to some Caribbean/Reggae rhythms (Yeaaaaaah my selecta). Overall the atmosphere was super chill and even got the chance to meet the owner/chef Scott who was making his rounds asking patrons if there was anything that they needed and getting people's general feedback. You can tell when someone is passionate about what they do and chef Scott is not playing around. What he serves there is an extension of who he is. Also appreciate someone who invests in bringing quality music to their establishment when technically they don't have to. One thing I told him was like he was funky like a monkey. I think he liked that..hehe.
I will be back for sure. Support your local non franchise/corporate restaurant folks because they are few and far between these days. Restaurant groups are taking over America one city at a time and we are here to say NO! Power to the people ✊🏼
They also have a rocking happy hours and they have weekly special dishes on the menu to keep the vibe flowing and interesting
**Updating My Review: A 4-Star Experience.
I've revisited this spot several times (have not been back in about a year), leading me to revise my rating to 4 stars. While still enjoyable, I've come to realize the menu is rather limited, especially regarding non-fried options. Furthermore, the bartender service, in my experience at the bar, could use some...
Read moreMy family came in for dinner last week. It was a fairly bad experience. There was a little bit of a wait. That's fine. When it came time to sit my family things got interesting. The staff treated us really poorly because we didn't have mask. Texas has given us the right back to choice what's best for our Health and our bodies. So they walked us out the front and along the side to the outdoor area and set us in the corner. There were three doctors in my group so we figured out quickly why we got the weird seating arrangement. Oddly enough the place was packed to capacity. The tables inside weren't 6ft apart. We witnessed drunk people walk all throughout the restaurant the whole night without mask, dancing, singing and going to the restroom. The hypocrisy was evident. If you think your customers are truly worried about their health they shouldn't consume high calorie meals and alcohol. You should advise them to eat a more healthy meals or stay home. The food was okay, not good enough to change the outcome. At the end someone came to our table. She recognized we had a bad experience and offered us two free desserts. This actually changed my feelings towards the experience to a positive. She said something like, "I want to offer something sweet to make your night better!" That was nice.........The kicker. I paid. And we waited 25 mins and the dessert never actually came. Lol. So we just got up and left. You cannot make that up. We waited, treated poorly, slow service, okay food, music was good and didn't bring the dessert. I cannot ever come...
