A Disappointing Experience I visited salsa Tex mex today with my family that left us thoroughly dissatisfied. From the moment I walked in, it was clear that this establishment had several issues that significantly impacted the overall dining experience.
First and foremost, the food was extremely bland. The chicken in the enchiladas was dry and lacked any discernible flavor. It was as if all the seasoning had been completely forgotten. Even the chips, which are usually a simple delight, were not served warm, and the salsa tasted like it had been sitting out for far too long.
Furthermore, the prices were exorbitant for the quality and quantity of the food served. The portion of meat in the fajitas was notably small, especially considering the high price paid. The chicken in the fajitas was also dry and flavorless. The shrimp in the fajitas was disappointingly tough, lacking taste. It felt as if the restaurant was cutting corners and compromising on the quality of ingredients, yet charging a premium for their dishes. The restaurant's atmosphere was another letdown. The space was overcrowded, with no sufficient distance between tables. It was uncomfortably cramped, and the lack of privacy made for an unenjoyable dining experience. To make matters worse, the wait times for a table were unreasonably long, and there was no place to wait inside the restaurant. Having to stand outside in the hot sun, waiting for a table, only added to the frustration.
To top it all off, when we provided feedback to the manager about our disappointment, he displayed a dismissive attitude. Instead of addressing our concerns, he nonchalantly remarked that the small portion meat sizes were expected. This lack of accountability and disregard for customer satisfaction was highly disappointing. The manager also failed to offer any solutions or alternatives, neglecting even the basic courtesy of asking if we needed anything else.
Considering the overpriced menu, the cramped and uncomfortable setting, the lack of quality and quantity in the food, and the dismissive response from the manager, I cannot recommend this restaurant. It failed to meet even the most basic expectations in terms of service, ambiance, and culinary experience. Save your money and look elsewhere for a more satisfying...
Read moreThis is in response to an incident that happened a couple of weeks ago at the always-wonderful Salsas in Frisco.
If you’ve read the reviews, you might’ve seen one written by a gentleman who was offended after being asked if he’d been drinking before arriving.
JP, I was actually sitting right next to your friend when you both arrived, and I was there the entire time you were.
Regarding your claim that we gave you an “uncomfortable” look when you sat down—you’re probably right. In fact, I’m sure I did. Your friend was wearing an overwhelming amount of cologne—or something similarly strong—that filled the whole restaurant. I got a headache within minutes of him sitting down.
Any further looks I gave were likely a response to him repeatedly coughing on my arm and sneezing—twice—without covering his mouth. I literally felt the mist on my arm. That’s not okay in any setting, let alone while I’m trying to eat.
As for the whispered conversation with Rolando—yes, we did speak quietly. He asked if I’d like to move, but based on how you both seemed to be acting, I declined because I didn’t want to risk creating a scene. It clearly seemed you were under the influence of something, maybe the movie was a sad one and he had cried a lot, therefore the barely open eyes.
For the record, I’ve been to Salsas many times and have often seen bartenders check in with guests before serving them another drink. Honestly, I didn’t even know he had asked you anything until you started raising your voice.
Since I was sitting right next to you, I clearly heard comments like, “He probably sees your eyes are barely open—it’s from what we did at the movies,” and “It was probably that couple next to you.” For people who don’t want to be judged, those were pretty bold assumptions about strangers who just wanted to breathe and not be sneezed on.
As for Rolando—he’s exceptional. He’s a kind, hardworking person who’s doing his best to support his family, including putting his children through college. I’ve met them, and they’re some of the most polite and respectful young people I’ve encountered.
To anyone reading both his review and this response—those are the facts.
PS FYI. The white couple? We’re...
Read moreSalsa has been our neighborhood restaurant for the last 8 years. We have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions there. My children have practiced their Spanish with the waitresses and waiters. It is my son's favorite restaurant ever. Tonight may have changed our views of this restaurant forever. I tried to call the restaurant 3x and kept getting a continuous busy signal as if the phone was off the hook. I tried their second number and they answered and hung up on me. I called this number back again and was asked if I could wait 5 minutes for them to take my order because they were busy. I waited 6 minutes and hung up and called again. I was asked again if I could wait to place an order because they were extremely busy. I waited another 5 minutes until I hung up again. At this point, I should have been done. However, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and decided to go to the restaurant with my husband and place the order there. After all, they typically have food on our table at the restaurant in 5-10 minutes. I walked in and shared my experience calling over the phone. They apologized and said they were busy. They took my order...given the circumstances you would think they would be quick with the order (BTW - the order was just combo fajitas for 2 and a bowl of queso). It took 1 hour to prepare this to go order. I expressed my frustration and was told they couldn't do anything for me...i was told to ask for Luis or the bartender in the future and they would give me 20% off the next bill or a free cup of queso. I asked how would they remember or know...and the response was they just would. We walked out paying the full bill about 75 minutes later after trying to place a phone order. Unfortunately, our go to neighborhood restaurant is probably removed...
