Me and my husband were very excited to try a new bar/restaurant after hearing rave reviews about The Owl. We were extremely disappointed to put it lightly. We both come from service industry and haven’t had this bad of service in a while. We sat at the bar and were not greeted right away the Hispanic man with a black shirt on had to tell the other girl to get our drink order. Drinks were good but we were never told either of the bartenders names. He never came back to ask us if we were ready to order food I had to flag him down after finishing 1 whole drink that we were ready to order. The food was delicious but he never asked us how it was or if we needed anything. My husband’s drink was empty by the time the pizza came but was never asked if he wanted another cocktail. Our waters were also never refilled. We were never informed of the specials and the female bartender couldn’t even tell me if she recommended the signature cocktail I ordered because she has “never had it”. We would’ve gotten way better service if we sat at a table as the bartenders both looked like they wanted nothing to do with us. The male bartender answered his personal phone behind the bar and he paid way more attention to the customers he personally knew that were sitting at the bar. Overall we loved the food but don’t think we will return after receiving that bad of service on a Wednesday evening with a half...
Read moreAs soon as we walked in, we seen ppl doing karaoke, so the vibes were there. We sat down, it’s a small establishment. we ordered two drinks, pizza and wings. The server asks us if we’re ready to close out as soon as we got our food (1)(12:30am). She also didn’t bring us water. She disappeared so I tried ordering at the bar, music was loud, he says sorry can’t hear you and goes back to washing dishes… like this is literally your JOB. So I sat down waiting for our server, second round of drinks came. She asks again are we ready to close out(2) (it’s only 12:45am-this place doesn’t close till 2AM). I told her we’ll let her know when we’re ready. I call her over tell her I want two shots & now we’re ready for the bill (two of us at the table). She brings out 1 🙄-so she had to go get the second one and get a new bill.
Why are you rushing paying customers? Maybe because we’re black. BAD SERVICE Worst drinks ever, watered down. HORRIBLE DRINKS. (I literally returned one bc it tasted like water). They couldn’t get a Long Island right either. Small establishment, music was loud af in our ear.
There are better options, don’t waste...
Read moreOur waitress was very attentive and nice, but the bartender did an injustice to the old fashioned. I like that their house old fashioned is a rye, but they put too much simple syrup and a large orange wedge at the bottom of the glass! Should only be a thin orange peel/twist. There was also an additional charge for the ice ball... that should all be included in the price difference from a straight pour to having an "old fashioned". Having the "most extensive spirits selection in DFW" doesn't matter if you can go one block south and get 2-3 bars who know what they're doing. I like the vibe and having another place to choose from, but the menu/training needs refining. The mule and other sections of the menu need to better clarify in the names of the drink what types of alcohol are being used- for those who don't know. Lastly, advertise that more drinks can be ordered "smoked" other than the mezcal options because someone might order a "smoked old fashioned" or "smoked mule" and be caught off-guard that...
