China Cafe — Restaurant in Fruit Cove

I am mind blown at the experience I just had with China Cafe in Middleburg, FL. My son ordered delivery food and was told their credit card machine was down and he had to pay cash. He ordered two meals with lomein and tipped the driver more than 40% due to not having change. We saw also that there was a $4.50 delivery fee in the total included already as well. The sesame chicken tasted great, but the bourbon chicken did not. My son eats any food I don't like and is not picky and literally spit the food out it was so bad. It tasted and looked old and like the sauce was watered down and not right, he described it as tasting like boiled water on top of the chicken. He called the place to ask to have it exchanged for another sesame instead and politlely told them this did not taste right. They told him they had to talk to their chef and would call back. Over 10 minutes later they finally called back and said they would not replace it because "they are busy and their bourbon chicken good" but he could bring it up there to exchange any day. Due to not having the ability to drive up there (which is why delivery was ordered) I called back and they answered the phone instantly rude- "yea" I asked if they can not bring us a different meal considering the situation and that we took one bite out of it and especially since we tipped the driver more than 40%! He was extremely rude and told me they are busy... I said well I don't care, I paid for a service and it is not fulfilled. He said sorry if I don't like it but their bourbon chicken good. I said I agree normally it does taste good, as I have had it from there before, but there is something wrong with this batch and he said YOU CAN BRING THE CHICKEN TOMORROW AND WE WILL EXCHANGE IT. I said I don't want tomorrow and ordered this for dinner TONIGHT and he said oh well. I told him I will be filing complaints and he said do whatever you want, I don't care!

I can't believe a business acts this way. If you order from here you may want to be aware they accept back food days old and that probably is what was wrong with my meal! Unreal! Now I see why "their credit card machine is down". Clearly a scam to be able to take advantage of customers because they already get paid and that's all that matters. I plan on filing multiple complaints and ask you to share this so others can be aware of how this place...

I was traveling with my family and we decided to stop here after getting off the road. My experience has nothing to do with the food but the service. My husband and I are African American, and I was really hoping this wasn’t race factor but when we walked in 3 women were sitting in the front of the restaurant in the dining area. It’s been sectioned off for pick up only. None of the women greeted us. It took at least 2 mins before any of them even looked up to acknowledge our presence. After standing there looking at the 3 of them one finally looked up, looked at us and looked at the 3rd lady sitting at a different table. Still no greeting. She looked backed down and continued studying on her laptop. Finally I guess one the ladies saw I was growing annoyed and finally looked at us and asked if we were ready. Keep in mind we still haven’t received even a hello. Finally when I’m about to give my order I have to yell it across the restaurant but before I can a white gentleman walks in for his order and is greeted immediately by everyone and with a smile. Now I’m not sure if it’s a race thing or not but it’s an awful way to make a new customer feel and has definitely left a lasting impression, I will never forget and I will never ever again attempt to patronize nor recommend this establishment to anyone especially...

I ordered chicken broccoli 😞disappointed Shrimp egg food young (greasy) Chicken on sticks (too chewy taste baked) not tasty at. I purchased 3 meals and it cost 39$ Please save your money and try another place. The service was fast, I was the only one there and I forgot the fried rice tasted burnt with no flavor. To be honest this is my 2 visit there. I was starving I stopped there hoping that time may have done the place good. The same as it was when I tried it before. It’s not Chineese food, it’s just food that is trying to be Chineese.

I’ve wasted 39$ and I decided to write this review hoping they will do better.

I am 60 years old and I’ve only done about 2 reviews that was bad from restaurants, this is one of them.

Update, I purchased food on 9/11/23, I called them almost 2 hours later after purchase. Told them I wasn’t interested in refund, I just wanted them to know my experience with quality of food, I was told a supervisor will call me back. No one called back. So this is...
