absolute horrific experience on Monday 8/26!! i’m a newly tired dad of a 5 month year-old baby boy. We decided as we try to crawl through our errands, to stop at my college favorite diner. Firstly, as we navigated our stroller through The dine-in area it was packed beyond belief in one area alone! knowing the diner there is way more spots throughout the entire restaurant to accommodate our entourage. Larger Tables weren’t bussed and they sat us in the dead center of the main walkway! does the hostess not understand what a fire hazard is? Secondly Thankfully they re-sat us. as we asked to be relocated to a quieter and more spacious area for our sleeping baby, he awoke to the manager LOUDLY COMPLAINING about her labor percentages! Hell, even the couple next to us could hear the manager complain her labor being over 26; whatever that means. NOW THE ABSOLUTE REASON FOR MY REVIEW. My wife needed a break, so I decided I’ll go to the bathroom and change my son’s diaper; THE CHANGING TABLE BROKE AS SOON AS I SET MY SON DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!! Luckily I caught him as soon as it went into a decline fashion AND I HAVE PHOTOS TO PROVE IT!!! additonally I was apprehensive to even change my son in that disgusting graffiti ridden table, but I went against my judgement and gently put a piece of PPE between my baby boy and the table. As a man working in healthcare, I cannot tell you the amount of life-changing injuries i have witnessed due to a simple fall. The place was gross. Here’s a BONUS As I stormed out of the bathroom to confront the unprofessional staff, I grabbed my wife’s attention to show her what happened in the bathroom, and guess what!!?! The tile floor that leads to the bathroom was so slippery and she almost fell !!!!

Black Bear Diner is the go to place for myself, my family and my friends, as well as business associates. We have dined at Black Bear since it opened and have come to love eating breakfast at Black Bear, from the wonderful food to the amazing coffee, and the lovely interior and exterior. We enjoy eating at Black Bear not only because of the prices but because of the team that makes Black Bear shine, Jennifer our Fave Server treats the diner as if it were her own. She is always up beat, singing to the jukebox, makes me feel like I am at home watchin my mother make breakfast as a kid. Jennifer always goes the extra mile, for every customer that comes into Black Bear, just like a Momma bear takes care of her cubs, Jennifer treats all her customers like they are the most important customers in the diner. She is always smiling and fillin up the coffee cups. The Team a Black Bear Diner really shines when they work together, and support each other. When Dining at Black Bear in the morning as for Jennifer - Momma Bear will take good care of you. And during the week, they have steak and eggs special or the 2x2x2 breakfast, you choose 2 of each and its a lot of food, come in hungry as a bear, and leave stuffed like a bear ready to hibernate. Can you say YUM!

Am giving 3 stars due to service and ambiance. Our sever was friendly but not attentive. Came back when we were almost done with our meal to ask if it was ok. We had dirty plates to be picked up from our table but she didn't pick those up in a timely manner. Food was ok, nothing spectacular. I felt the food was under seasoned. The ground beef with the taco salad smelled funny and tasted like grease. We were seated close to the kitchen window and all we could hear were employees gossiping in Spanish instead of hearing the restaurant music and enjoying our time there. Update: November 2033 Came back to give this location another chance. They failed, again. They messed up on my husbsnds egg Benedict order and the potatoes were undercooked and full of grease. The side of fruit smelled rotten. Even the orange slice garnish was unripe and not edible. I tried the taco salad again. The meat again had a funny taste and smell and thecitaluan dressing I ordered was old. That's it Black Bear...no more chances, we're done. (Location on Harbor ).

This location is so much better than La Habra location, that has limited parking. I was told 40min wait for just myself, but only waited 19mins to be seated. Where I sat was being serviced by Summer, whom took very good care of her tables. Service with a smile & friendly. I always order a blackberry bear claw, always a goal for breakfast meal & only eating half, taking other half home to enjoy the following morning. Anyhow, she told me after bringing the bear claw, my Bfast would be a little longer since the cooks were behind since the restaurant was packed. But nope, before even finishing eating half of bear claw, my Bfast arrived. My server said, it got done sooner, so enjoy! Meanwhile I didn't see the little flyer at the table, but wanted to mention that Black Bear diner is now having their pumpkin pancakes season, along with pumpkin Cheesecake too. Thanks for great service today 9/5/2022

Went there for some ribs and meatloaf, but was told the ribs weren't available because they are going through a menu change. Menus are a cheap newspaper style, so they couldn't have them updated or replaced? Also asked for mac and cheese as a side, but was told that they were out (5:30pm). The steak didn't have a lot of flavor, and the shrimp were heavily breaded. The meatloaf was average, and could have been better with more of the gravy. Green beans seemed like they were from the can. The bacon was a nice touch, but much of it was undercooked. A lot of onions mixed in, so that was the dominant flavor, rather than green beans. Mashed potatoes and gravy were good, and the biscuits were okay. Our first time there, so kind of disappointing. Maybe we'll give it another chance for breakfast, but I don't think we'll be going back for dinner.

You get a lot of food for your dollar. It is definitely enough to take home for later. The food here is actually tasty, and they have a vast amount of options to choose from.
