I recently had the pleasure of participating in an escape room experience themed around the infamous Zodiac Killer, and I must say that Max, our game master, truly elevated the entire adventure. Max's exceptional skills as a game master made the experience unforgettable and exhilarating.
Right from the beginning, Max set the tone perfectly, immersing us in the eerie world of the Zodiac Killer. Their enthusiasm and dedication to creating a spine-chilling atmosphere were apparent from the moment we stepped into the room. Max's attention to detail in the setup and their ability to create an immersive environment truly transported us into the mind of the Zodiac Killer.
Throughout the game, Max's guidance and hints were invaluable. They struck a perfect balance between providing assistance when needed and allowing us to solve puzzles on our own. Max's clues were cleverly designed to keep us engaged and challenged, ensuring that the experience remained exciting and rewarding. Their ability to read the room and adapt their hints to our progress was truly commendable.
One aspect that stood out was Max's talent for providing scares. While some game masters might shy away from actively participating in the scares, Max fully embraced their role and went above and beyond. Their perfectly timed surprises and unexpected moments of terror added an extra layer of excitement and adrenaline to the game. Each scare was well-executed and left us on the edge of our seats, enhancing the immersive nature of the experience.
Moreover, Max's enthusiasm and passion for the escape room industry were contagious. It was evident that they genuinely enjoyed their role as a game master, which translated into a positive and enjoyable atmosphere for our group. Their energy and charisma created a memorable experience that we will not soon forget.
In summary, Max's exceptional performance as our game master for the Zodiac Killer-themed escape room deserves high praise. Their helpful hints, immersive atmosphere, and expertly executed scares elevated the experience to new heights. If you're looking for an escape room adventure filled with suspense, excitement, and a touch of terror, Max is the game master you need. I cannot recommend their services...
Read moreOur first time doing an escape room. We settled on Wild Goose due to the reviews and tried the Zodiac Killer room.
Around midway through, we experienced an issue where one of the locks did not open, even though we had the correct combo. The GM even assured us several times via hints that we were on the right track and had the correct combo. They had to send a worker in twice; once to try it out themselves and a second time to literally (!) drill out the lock.
All this confusion and back and forth cost us a lot of time on the clock and they only re-comped us ~10min. Not to mention the total break in immersion, which is kind of the whole point of an escape room is it not?
As we continued the attempt, we ran into yet another issue where we were told a door malfunctioned and didn't automatically close as it should have. This caused a ton of confusion because now we weren't sure what moves were "allowed" or not because of this 2nd malfunction.
Obviously, we didn't manage to complete the room, but we were a little disappointed that none of the staff really bothered to compensate us in the aftermath for that botched experience. I can look past the first malfunction, but a second one just shows me that the rooms weren't thoroughly tested and vetted.
I'm sure this would have been a cool experience had everything worked properly but our experience as a whole was just... disappointing, considering the price you pay.
Edit: Just saw the response. I have to reiterate that it was TWO malfunctions: the nightstand combo lock and the bedframe door. Like I explained to the owner, a single malfunction I can understand. It happens to the best of us. But a second one in the same session? That just tells me the room was NOT tested beforehand. Otherwise, they would have noticed these sequence breaks.
To be fair, the owner tried to reach out via text...but only after posting this review. I tried explaining the issues we had with our experience over text, but he didn't address a single thing. Instead, he was strangely insistent on calling. To the point where it...
Read moreIt was okay. We were 15 minutes late, which was 100% on us, so they took off time, 100% understandable. We were told last time that the grace period for being late was 15 minutes, but this time it was 10. Thought maybe policy changed, but upon arrival he said 15 but kept the timer going. We got in the store with 45 minutes on the timer, but our game master took a while longer than normal to say their intro so we got in the room with about 38 minutes left. We were told going into the room that we only get one clue every 10 minutes, so we waited 10 minutes to ask for a clue. Just after they gave us the clue they said “oh also you can ask whenever you’d like.” So it felt like we waited for nothing, just wasting time. I also felt like they weren’t paying attention to us. We asked for a clue and they told us our numbers we had were wrong. We redid the portion of the room just to find out we had the right numbers just in the wrong place, so more time wasted. Then they just left during our game. Asked us if we “wanted a quick clue before they left.” They were gone for last 5 minutes. So yea, could’ve been better.
Edit: I do appreciate the response here and the call, but just so we’re on the same page it was still an awful experience. And just because we had a couple of good experiences before this doesn’t mean that makes this experience disappear. I would also recommend letting guest know that the grace period can fluctuate, because it makes things far more complicated when you find out the day of, let alone minutes before hand. Yes, our game master did ask if we wanted one, before he left. He still left our game unattended which shouldn’t have happened. He did apologize, but that doesn’t deter the fact that he still left. And it’s not the “attention I desired” it’s the...
