They need better service. Waitress was either out of it or too busy. Her table manners needed some work. She came across as one of those that got by acting aloof by way of her looks when things went wrong. To enjoy myself here, I would've had to have been the type of person who doesn't get bothered by not having the waiter check back with you on whether or not your food is how you ordered it or if its any good before you're finished.
Mine was the poor boy with fries. She brought the sandwich and a salad. Took till the end if the meal to get it, roughly 25 min later. All the while I wish I didn't order the sandwich. It was a sad interpretation of the classic without understanding why or what made the poor boy that way... It's a sandwich. Simple and good. This was minced non-dressed red cabbage with a bell pepper mayo spread and the fishy tasting under cook and soggy fish stick on a roll. The only thought that came through was that they probably put it on the menu as and afterthought because it reads on the menu well. I believe they'd do better with a "mastered" classic recipe.
You must be cool with things like having the server forgetting stuff like napkins refills. The check came along with our missing salad. And, as we wanted to. pay promptly and leave, our waitress went missing for what felt like forever. So, I went to the bar and asked to pay. The bartender didn't know what to do, and like a true professional gave it to the bar-back who also didn't know what to do. So, he found our server for us and we got the heck outta there.
I'm writing this two weeks since our visit because I was reminded of the place and remembered it well. Whiskey was good (can't fudge that). All in all, not a good restaurant...
Read moreThis bar is fantastic in many ways (whiskey list, food, cocktails) but there was one issue I had last time that makes not feel safe or comfortable about going back. There's a bartender there who has full tattoo sleeves and is the stereotypical buff white guy. He first gave me a very bratty attitude when I told him I don't want to keep my tab open, I want to close it and seemed like it was a sincere inconvenience for him to mix me a couple drinks. I told him quickly and clearly that I wanted a Manhattan and Old Fashioned with Bulliet bourbon in both. He put wild turkey in one anyway and seeing as how much I don't like Wild Turkey, I tasted it like someone put hot sauce in ice cream. I decided not to say anything because I just wanted to go back to my table, I did leave a note on the receipt stating that he put the wrong whiskey in my drink. Once I went back to my table with my husband in the cigar lounge, the bartender came storming over fuming with anger and looking ready to hit someone. He kept storming over until he saw I had my husband with me, to which he started yelling that he didn't mess up my drink. Wanting it to be over and leave, I said okay. He then repeated himself. Twice. My husband looked about ready to lay him out for yelling at me like that which is when the bartender finally left us alone. We left and i dont think we'll be going back. I love the drink, the food, the environment but I don't want be yelled at by some brat ever when I'm out trying...
Read moreStopped in on Saturday around 11:30AM. We were a four-top, seating us was swift, and the hostess was so accommodating to our group. Our server (did not catch her name) was attentive and polite as can be. Excellent service all around, and the joint has a very cool aesthetic.
I ordered the Chilaquiles after one of our group members recommended them, and I was a little disappointed to see tri-color tortilla chips glazed with chile verde sauce and some sour cream drizzle and crumbled cheese. Listen... they were NOT bad, but chilaquiles they are not! I was actually pleasantly surprised at how good they were.
I’d recommend swapping out the name out for something else. Chilaquiles are usually cut into ribbons, fried to a crisp, then coated in sauce with traditional Mexican ingredients (onions, freshly minced jalapeño, salsa de pato, tomato paste, etc.), so seeing what my brain could only depict as nachos was a little disappointing... but they weren’t bad! I would order them again. Also, whoever made those beans? Compliments to you! They were so close to my grandma’s recipe that I almost asked for more.
Overall, it was a great place for a quick bite with fast and...
