The Pizza Quest continues. The latest stop: Fuoco.

Food: Look friends, there's a lot to say. If you don't want to read below, then just know it is the best Neapolitan pizza in Orange County. My other favorite Neapolitan joint, with that place, the sauce is the star. Here at Fuoco, it is the dough. The dough/crust is out of this world delicious. The family that runs this place are masters. We tried the Margherita and the Vespa, both fabulous. The Margherita though, they really created beauty through simplicity with this pie. Again the dough is, well, perfect. The sauce is simple, bright, fresh. The cheese is clearly high quality. The basil is fresh. It's really just a perfectly executed version of the heart of pizza. Neapolitan is not one of my preferred pizza styles, but there are not that many places I look forward to returning as much as this place. We also got the Limoncello Flute for dessert, a great palette cleanser at the end. The food is great.

Service: Our waitress was very friendly, offered suggestions when we asked, and was a proper level of "there when we needed/not when we didn't". Zero complaints about service.

Atmosphere: You can sense the authenticity of the family---our waitress had a detectable Italian accent, proper Italian music was playing (not goofy fake commercial Italian music), and lower level European soccer qualifying was on TV. I liked that. The place was overall pretty clean. The ambiance in the daytime was probably nothing special overall, but in general I liked the atmosphere. It's pretty big, or at least feels quite big when it isn't full. The location isn't bad either.

If you're a fan of Neapolitan pizza, you must come here. If you're a fan of pizza made from high-quality and fresh ingredients you can really taste, this place should also be on your list. This style can never take my top spot just due to personal preference, but it is certainly the best Neapolitan pizza spot in OC and one of the best overall.

To the employees at Fuoco: Please just keep doing what you are doing. It is delicious and I look forward to...

Finding gluten and egg-free pizza dough isn't easy, but we discovered it, and it's been a game-changer. Fuocco has not only addressed our pizza crust needs but also offers options without tomato sauce--a rarity in itself. The authentic Italian feel, with owners and some staff speaking Italian, adds to the overall experience. The lively atmosphere usually draws a large crowd during dinner hours, so arriving early is advisable. There's lots of seating in booths and tables.

Our favorite picks are the Fuocco and Vespa pizzas, both ordered with gluten-free crusts. However, family members who have opted for the regular crusts rave about them. My husband, in particular, claims it's the best gluten free crust he's ever had. They take care to make the gluten free crust separately, but it's important to note there is a risk of cross-contamination. Personally, I watch them closely during preparation, as I've seen instances of placing the gluten-free crust on a counter with regular flour. While their oven isn't exclusively for gluten-free pizzas, I feel comfortable with the process, but it may not be suitable for everyone.

The Ortolana is also a good choice with Mozzarella, red onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, basil, and extra virgin olive oil (No tomato sauce)

The Fuocco pizza boasts mozzarella, prosciutto, arugula, parmesan, and truffle olive oil. The Vespa pizza features pepperoni, mozzarella, goat cheese, and a drizzle of spicy honey, which you can request on the side. Both pizzas, along with a few others, skip the tomato sauce, as the rich and creamy cheese creates its own delightful sauce during melting--an excellent perk for someone like me with a tomato allergy.

The gluten free crusts are a bit steep at an additional $6 a pizza, but it is well worth it.

Whenever we have family from out of town, Fuocco is our special go-to place...

I would like to first start by saying the food is as delicious as it is beautiful.  The pizza is baked to perfection; the crust is crunchy and light. The proportion of cheese and sauce are perfectly distributed with a touch of basil. I am currently enjoying the Diavola pizza (spicy salami ). By far my favorite pizza fuocos offers. Of course that varies by preference. I love spicy foods and can be plain at times. I personally think that the pizzas are best when paired with the Peach Iced tea. The sweetness of the tea balances the spice in the pizza, the tea isn't too sweet and is bottled. However, you are given a cold glass for your tea. The owner is an amazing cook and sweetheart. He comes across very serious,  but has given me the best service in the house, with the exception of Rosa. Rosa served me before and delivered with excellence. I am only giving a 4 star today because I felt that the waitress today was very short with me. I came for happy hour and it was 2:20, she said it wasn't 2:30pm yet and walked away. I just stood at the bar waiting with no clue if I could still order food. I am on my lunch break and don't mind paying full price. The owner however came over to ask if I had been helped and I answered "yes, i am waiting to order at 2:30 I think". By the time he asked it was 2:25pm. He went ahead and took my order and i stayed at the bar. The waitress did explain why she didn't take my order. I understood that, I just didn't appreciate the way she went about it. But maybe she was having an off day. My food was ready within 3 minutes and she brought it over. I waited about a minute for my utensils, but she didn't come back. I reached over and grabbed a pair since the were directly to my right and at reach. I will definitely come back and reccoment this place. Today was just odd, hence...

Stopped by Fuoco last Saturday after someone recommended their pizza. We walked in on a Saturday afternoon and sat at the bar. The restaurant was pretty busy, with a pleasant, buzzing atmosphere. We shared the Involtini Ai Sapori 14 appetizer - prosciutto crudo wrapped fresh mozzarella with baby arugula, served on a thin layer of pesto. The prosciutto crudo was delicious! I would definitely recommend this appetizer, great for sharing as you receive a generous portion. Next we shared the funghi e salsiccia pizza. The tomato sauce was wonderful, and all ingredients appeared to be of great quality. The crust was wonderful: crispy and airy, charred with that pleasant smoky flavor. I read through some reviews and noticed some patrons were unhappy about their 'soggy' pizza. If you are not familiar with Napoletana-style pizza, you should prepare yourself for you what might call 'soggy', as the liquid from the sauce and cheese tends to create a hot, soupy, molten area at the center of the pizza. One of the reasons why this type of pizza is eaten with knife and fork as it can be tricky to pick it up. While some Napoletana-Style pizzerias have taken American taste into account and have adjusted their pizzas to be a bit more dry, I personally prefer the pies that lean towards the 'wet' center. All in all a great experience, and when in the area, I would definitely go back.

I had been hearing about Fuoco pizza for quite some time. Come a hungry Friday evening and it was time to stop by with a friend. Overall we really enjoyed the food. No wait on a Friday around 530 which was nice. The restaurant was just about to be full and we were one of the last pairs in the door without a wait. It was buzzing with people enjoying their food. A nice vibe for eating a meal. My friend got the barrel aged Negroni, it was good. I didn’t get a cocktail this time, sadly. We got two different pizzas. One with pepperoni and hot honey that was the real standout. The other had artichokes and olives plus other goodies. Unfortunately I don’t remember the exact names of either - but you can see them in the attached photo. The crust was exceptional and all of the flavors really stood out. We also had a salad from the selection on the menu that was very enjoyable with mixed greens and what I think might’ve been sliced pear? Only downside was that after dropping off our entrees our waiter disappeared through the end of the meal, and someone random dropped off and processed our check. (He wasn’t on break, saw him hopping around helping other tables) - not a huge deal but left something to be desired. Will definitely be returning, I’m sure the little service blip was an anomaly.
