I used to live in Fullerton, now up in Big Bear Lake. My daughter and I will be going back to OC for short vacation. CHOMP Sushi Restaurant is fine dining, huge acquariums, beautiful interior, step up booths, very large sushi bar, tempan tables, individual tables. We used to go here when we lived in Fullerton less than two years ago. We moved to Big Bear in 2021. We will be moving out of state this Summer to Tennessee. So we want to go back to our favorite OC restaurants on short vacation, including DownTown Disney's Tortilla Joe's. CHOMP Sushi is a 5-star dining experience, upscale, elegant, beautiful interior. Sushi rolls, all their menu selections are outstanding. We will definitely stop here on our way to hotel in Anaheim. Rolls here are pricey, but most of them are very substantial. Over sized. Only issue is there are just too many items on menu to select from. Hard to read all and choose. Best to research menu before going there, and see pictures to kind of narrow down choices. Otherwise, it is hard to read everything and decide in short time, if it is your first time there. We have been there many times in past, but they change menu rolls and names too. Just went on website today 4/2/23 and noticed a lot of rolls and unique names to catch your attention. Everything's sounds wonderful too. I literally have to read menu and see pictures before hand. Well worth going here, but plan to spend time to order, enjoy interior atmosphere. Also there is a Sunday brunch, it is popular, busy. Menu is overwhelming at CHOMP alot to take in. Expensive, large rolls though. Can be loud at times, alot of people, music. At times feels like a club experience, alot going on. We used to go when they first opened, less noise, people. A very nice upscale sushi restaurant, great for special occasions...
Read moreWe had about 16 people in our party. We were celebrating my husband's graduation so we were all in happy spirits, it was also our first time here. 10 adults and 6 kids. We were greeted and sat by a pleasant hostess at the grill. Maybe 4 out of the 10 adults wanted to order sushi so our waitress Grace came and gladly handed out sushi menus. We ordered our drinks and everything was great, then a rude waitress named Debra (she wasn't even our waitress) approached me and told me for future reference if we wanted to sit at the grill more than half the party needed to ordering from the grill. I told her that no one told me that before we sat or ordered and then she told me people already should know that (wow) I was clearly bothered and it changed the whole mood of our gathering. My mom addressed her and told her she lacked in customer service, she litterally laughed in my mom's face. She kept giving my table dirty looks and rolling her eyes eveytime she walked by. She was extremely lucky I was in no mood to ruin my husband's graduation lunch because it would have ended very differently ;) manager came, he scolded her a little but she was still able to work. The chef actually apologized for her behavior. He also said she told him not to give us any extra food (hiw petty is this chick) Never have a business with people creating this kind if environment. We spent over $500 for our bill (probably more than she makes in a week) and will NEVER return because of DEBRA. I could have totally understood if it was packed with people and there were no grills available for waiting guests but we were the only ones at the grill lol. I was wondering why it wasn't busy for a Saturday, because Negative Debra is scaring all the...
Read moreDespite this place having some of the best sushi in Orange County, the service could have been better. That isn't to say that they didn't do their job, but it left my partner and I with a bad taste (no pun intended). The greeters gave us an accurate wait time and escorted us to our seats promptly. The service was fairly quick for the amount of people who were there (e.g., getting drinks, appetizers). The selection of sushi at Chomp Rockin' Sushi was vast and I believe that there is something for everyone here. The food came out much quicker than we had anticipated, although they only give us one dish at a time instead of bringing everything at once which was slightly inconvenient. Regardless, the food had amazing quality, but the price is pretty typical for getting sushi in California (about $15-20 per roll).
The issue that keeps me from giving this place four or five stars was paying for the meal itself. The waiter rushed for us to pay shortly after he had taken our plates away and he seemed to become impatient with us when we didn't pay as promptly as he had expected. I suppose that he wanted us to leave so that they could make more seats available, but it seemed unnecessary when there had been plenty of tables open and there weren't any customers waiting by the time we left. We left shortly after we paid for the meal. Overall, the food here is quite delicious and it arguably has more options than most sushi places in Orange County. However, the rush for us to pay (digitally) and the impatience shown by our waiter left us feeling unsatisfied and it made the dining situation...
