So far, trying to find a good poke restaurant is not that easy. After having been to this location +8x, I would say that it's the best around. They have good sizes, plenty of options, like garlic tofu which not many other places have. Fast service. Little pricey, but what isn't these days...
But, they need to work on making their sauces consistent. One day, the spicy mayo will run like water. The next time, it'll be like mayonnaise. All the employees use it anyway while noticing how obvious the difference between the right way and the wrong way it's supposed to look, and no one tries to fix it. Says lots about management if they aren't watching their recipes.
Also, the flavor impact of all the sauces varies from mild to extremely mild in flavor. Never agressive. You can imagine if the boss isn't looking, why should teenagers care if they forgot to put orange in the orange sauces. Or maybe they put way too much water so it'll look like they filled up the container.
So the garlic orange ginger doesn't taste like garlic, orange, or ginger enough, or at all. I'm wondering why bother with wasting money on ingredients if you don't put enough in the sauce to actually flavor it.
The spicy flavors are really spicy 🥵 so be careful.. Since the other flavors aren't really apparent in the sauce anyway, all that comes through is the heat.
All this said, the customers don't really care because they are college kids, and they have more important things to care about. They still go, and so do I, because the fish, options, and sizings are great.
You'd be hard pressed to find a better poke restaurant in and or around Fullerton.
I recommend this place to...
Read moreI was pleasantly surprised with how good this place actually is. I go to a lot of Poké and I reserve my 5 star reviews for very few places. Being that this is near the downtown Fullerton area I figured it would be sub-par or overpriced and cater mostly to the young drunken crowd. But it's actually really good! On my second visit I got smart and asked them to serve my bowl in the wider one that's usually reserved for the salad mix as the base., This way the fish was a little more spread out, and I could eat the fish with the rice. The first time there was so much fish piled on top it was difficult to get both in the same bite. They have some really good sauces that you can try but be careful some of the options are pretty spicy. One of the things I really like is that they have a bar setup with additional seasonings and sauces that you can add to your bowl, so you don't have to go crazy while they're preparing it for you, you can always add...
Read moreThis was a nice place, nice location. But in all honesty the food fell flat. I am a huge foodie and enjoy a large variety of foods, but this place is just one of the times where I just couldn’t finish my plate from disappointment stemming from lack of flavor. There was no texture differentiation. Overall, good if you want a quick bite but nothing mind blowing. Also O.K quality for the price (about 13 dollars for a medium plate) . Offering cooked protein could definitely elevate the place by presenting a warm “feel good” dish. Also adding more vegetables like corn, cooked carrots would complement the sea food beautifully. Like I said great for a quick bite but nothing I would...
