We had been excited about Another Broken Egg opening in Gainesville and decided to try it today. Sadly, the experience was disappointing. We put our name on the waiting list and were told it would be 45 minutes for a table for two. They texted an hour later and we came up to the front desk. The hostess told me my name wasn't on the list, I had to show her the text she had just sent me. Then she went, Ah, okay. Another hostess came up and said who's next? and she was told my name and party of 2, the second hostess said "where the heck are they?" I had to say, I am standing right here. Very awkward and a bit rude in our opinion with unnecessary verbiage. No one during that whole process smiled or said anything pleasant. We were sat in a tiny table by the wall right next to a table with a small crying child playing a game on a laptop with the video game music loud enough to disturb all the tables around. The waitress came over to take our order about 10 minutes after we sat down. My wife ordered the skinny omelet, which on the menu comes with fruit. When the waitress took the order, she said the fruit would be an extra charge. We had to point out that the fruit was listed as part of the dish on the menu. She left to check with the manager and she came back to say that yes, it would be part of the dish and no extra charge. My wife also wanted the goat cheese on the omelet to be replaced with Jack cheddar cheese which was not a problem. All was good and the order was placed. We waited 47 minutes to get our food with the unruly child wreaking havoc at an arm's length. No one even came to ask if we wanted more coffee, I had to grab the waitress on the fly to ask for a refill. Once the order arrived, the omelet had no salt, very bland, and they had left the cheese out of the omelet altogether. It took another 10-12 minutes to be able to get someone's attention to mention that the omelet had no cheese. Finally we got the attention of another waiter, who tried to help us and had someone bring the cheese out on a plate. Again, no one came by to ask if we wanted more coffee. When the waitress brought the bill, my wife's omelet was charged plus the fruit was charged as an extra. We had to call the waitress back, another 10 minutes, to tell her that we had discussed this and that the fruit is listed as part of the dish. She left again to discuss it again with the manager. Finally, they brought the correct charges and we paid the bill. It was a pretty bad experience for a new restaurant opening in town. The staff is not trained properly as you would expect to take care of customers. They seemed like they were somewhat trying, but they didn't know what to do and that is unacceptable. It will be a while until we go back and for now, we will not be...
Read moreWe were a big group of us arrived at 11 for a table and were promptly seated once the whole gang was there. A n hour and 10 mins passed our order and no food was in sight. I stepped up to walk to the area my server was and requested her to check with the kitchen as we have been waiting for 70 mins. She was totally surprised and had never followed up with the kitchen for our food. All this while, we had not had any silverware or drinks either on our table. After few minutes, a gentleman approaches our table with an excuse that we are next in line for food and offered us coffee. The coffee he served was extremely burnt and when I asked him to take it back, he was rude and never apologized. He just took it away without offering replacement. 30 mins later when another person got coffee, it was fine. Service took another 30 mins to bring our food out with few missing plates. Almost all of us had some things missing from our order. The outdoor seating by this time had so many bugs that we were just ready to leave. The food was mediocre and all our runny eggs were cooked when we received it. Was a total waste of our 3 hours, our money and patience. You lost a dozen customers today. Meanwhile, all other tables were getting food, drinks and services. Not one apology from any staff member, the burnt coffee was the cherry on top of awful service. Details-
BLT: burnt bread and dry sandwich Salad: none of the veggies mentioned were present so was literally just greens and onion and my friend had to pay 15 bucks for it. Staff was reminded 4 times to bring the remaining veggies of the salad but they never came. Hash special: tasted like coconut as if hash was cooked on top of a pancake or French toast griddle. Eggs hard and overdone Huevos Ranchero: only chips and overdone eggs - barely any beans or onion as per description. Requested again, never got a replacement or side beans Apple Fritter special pancake : eggs overdone, dry pancake Shrimp Benedict: didn’t receive till we were all done with food and ready to leave. Shrimp were gritty. Shrimp and Grits: sausage added by mistake, had to ask replacement. Cold brew: great House coffee: great Coffee they offer as compensation for their bad service: unapologetically burnt and you still pay for it as they will not even take it...
Read moreMy wife and I visited this location for the first time this past Saturday, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience.
Upon arrival, we were seated right away, but things quickly went downhill. It took nearly 15 minutes before our server greeted us and took our drink order. Instead of bringing our drinks right away, she attended to another table, leaving us waiting even longer. After another five minutes, our drinks finally arrived, and we placed our order.
While the food didn’t take too long to arrive, the quality left much to be desired. My wife ordered the Country Power Bowl ($15.29), which she said was decent, but the grits were bland and lacked seasoning. I ordered the Biscuits and Gravy ($12.99), which was a complete disappointment. The dish included two sausage patties on top — both awkwardly positioned with only half the patty on the plate. The sausage didn’t taste like sausage at all, instead overwhelmed with seasoning that threw off the entire dish. The biscuit was hard as a rock, difficult to cut with a knife, and there wasn’t nearly enough gravy to properly cover it. What little gravy there was tasted pasty and lacked flavor. My plate left my table with almost 3/4 of the plate full.
I shared my concerns with our server, who simply said “okay” and seemed uninterested. Throughout the meal, she was inattentive — we had to repeatedly ask for drink refills, extra napkins, and coffee creamer. She disappeared for long periods, leaving us unsure if she was overwhelmed or just inattentive.
The cost of breakfast was steep given the portion sizes, but the bigger concern was the poor food quality and lack of service. No manager ever checked in, and the server never mentioned my feedback about the meal.
We’ve enjoyed far better experiences at 43rd Street Deli and Darrell’s Diner — both of which offer better prices, larger portions, and far superior service. Unfortunately, our visit to Another Broken Egg will likely be our...
