Butler North — Local services in Gainesville

Dichotomy? Every time I go to Butler North I feel like this place has a dual personality. On the one hand it has truly amazing shopping and the variety, holy moly. On the other hand, OMG, but the traffic. The whole area is broken up into individual plazas. You’ll find Trader Joe’s right next to a Ross Dress For Less, Burlington, Tuesday Morning and a western store. The same plaza has a Best Buy and PetSmart. I had my hair done here in a swanky salon that’s right around the corner from Anthropology. Other plazas have a Walmart right near a Sam’s Club, a Lowe’s, a Dollar General, Bahama Breeze and Target, Publix, Whole Foods. There are various other restaurants, fast food and full-service. BUT, good heavens, it seems like the place grew so fast there wasn’t time to plan it! Insufficient through roads and parking lot flow cause huge traffic problems. Honestly, I avoid shopping and especially driving by on Archer Road. I find I only go to Butler North if I really, really need something. Bottom line? Really great shopping. I called Mesa landscape services to get a price on a simple landscape job in the front of my home and a small sprinkler system to be installed but I am 82 years old and on the fixed income Mr Mesa but absolutely fantastic he looked at it said I can get it taken care of for you never even bothered asking what kind of a budget I was on because he automatically knew that I was on a fixed income because of my age of course he did a beautiful fantastic job I know he took before and after pictures I just hope that he post them for everybody to see but what the job that he did and his crew did it was phenomenal and so far under the budget that I even thought about I'm extremely grateful for having met him because he did exactly what he said he was going to do and then some I wish more contractors who are so easy...

New extension of Butler Plaza has definitely increased traffic. Hence another rebuilding of all ramps of I-75 at Archer Rd. Many turn lanes are not big enough to handle good flow of traffic. At many lights you have to make u-turns to go in the direction you want or to get to the lot for the shop your looking for. Have seen several accidents. Also witness people making turns from wrong lanes. Traffic gets backed up at stop signs near bus transfer station. Some stores have already closed and there are several open store fronts.
