Mayday Ice Cream Gainesville — Restaurant in Gainesville

First, I want to preface this review by stating that I am an extreme ice-cream connoisseur. If I can end every single day with ice-cream, I can and will. With that being said, Mayday Ice-cream is officially my new favorite! When I walked into the Gainesville location, I was greeted by a woman named “Rosette”, whom was an absolute GEM, and who made my ice-cream dreams come true by offering me 4 different half scoops of 4 different ice-cream flavors to make a double scoop! Yes, she let me try 4 flavors instead of the average 2 in a double scoop! The best part…. SHE DID IT WITH A SMILE! She did it with enthusiasm and excitement, FOR ME! She was so excited for me to try new flavors, get the full experience, and for me to hopefully come back for more! Spoiler alert, I will most definitely be back! The smell of those fresh waffle cones are enough to bring me back in just for that! Rosette, Thank you for an unforgettable experience! Fans of the Jax location, but the service of this location was somewhere between apathetic and hostile. The guy literally yelled "WHAT?" at my soft-spoken daughter because he couldn't hear her. He looked pissed when he barked at her too. It was very rude and surprising. He was also just generally sour. Dark long curly hair guy. Not the friendly happy vibe I expect at an ice cream store, especially Mayday. Granted, it was a game day so there must have been a lot of traffic before we arrived, but that's on the store to better staff to handle the load, give breaks, and train for better customer service.

Also, they didn't offer the signature sprinkles and waffle cookie.

Prices seemed fair and the ice cream and cones were top-notch as I expected. Some of the best I've ever had.

I have been left thoroughly disappointed after going to Mayday Ice Cream two times. While the employees are nice, the product leaves a lot to be desired. It lacks mix-ins and has too much overrun (air whipped into it) which is shocking considering its price point. What is even more dissapointing is that when I decided to give it a second chance the pint of ice cream I bought was freezer burnt. I would be understanding of this if it had been shipped from across the country and sat on the shelf in low quality grocery store freezers but when it happens in an overpriced ice cream shop it is unacceptable.
