FANTASTIC addition to the kentlands area. Sometimes you just get tired of sushi, five guys, and Thai thatās everywhere in the area⦠this place is a breath of fresh air.
We got the bistek and paksiw. I personally liked the paksiw A LOT. Excellent and classic south East Asian meat style with a nice pickled touch via pickle. Since itās a classic meat style there are small fatty bits on there. My fiancĆ© did not like this and favored the bistek more. Personally I didnāt even notice lol. The bistek is also really good though and Iād call it a pretty classic option if youāre not sure about the paksiw. A lot of people were ordering the chorizo. The potato spuds are good too loved the Cajun dipping sauce.
GET THE DARN ICE CREAM IF YOU CAN. Huge soft serve in cone or dish. I can probably looked up to see what the flavor tastes like but when I tried it itās very similar to taro tea from a bubble tea place (PS thereās a KF tea across the street).
They didnāt seem like they had any indoor seating so keep that in mind, seems like a takeout window operation. Thereās a outdoor seating area with umbrellas. Bring wet wipes or something for your hands afterwards, go to the the five guys bathroom next door, or use the water fountain if itās on...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI stopped by Lapu Lapu on a sunny weekend morning and had such a great experience. Itās a casual spot that operates out of a small kitchen window with just a few outdoor tables. I ordered the Spam breakfast sandwich, which was around $11, and it was delicious. The bread was toasted just right, the Spam had crispy edges, and the sauce added the perfect savory kick. It was surprisingly filling and totally hit the spot.
They offer both Filipino-inspired and American-style breakfast sandwiches, so thereās something for every kind of craving. You can tell they put real thought into the flavors. Thereās also a small sign by the window that shares the story behind the name Lapu Lapuāa Filipino hero who resisted colonizationāwhich adds a meaningful cultural touch.
Service was quickāI got my food within 10 minutes, even with a few people ahead of me. Itās a great option if you want something fast but flavorful. I sat outside since it was a nice day, and the vibe was super relaxed.
Iāll definitely be back to try more sandwiches and their ube ice cream next time. Perfect for a quick grab-and-go breakfast or a casual...

We got these 5 items to-go: Chorizo sandwich Spam sandwich B.A.L.T. sandwich Spuds, Pecorino Romano Cheese seasoning Spuds, Cajun seasoning
It was their anniversary when we ordered, so they gave us a free black bag with their logo and a free white cup with their logo - both good quality and a nice surprise!
(1.) The Chorizo was tasty with a really interesting sweet pork chorizo patty. (2.) The Spam was very good and reminded us of a delicious spam bao. (3.) The BALT was one of the best sandwiches we've had in the DMV area: the bacon was crunchy with a little spice, the tomato lettuce and avocado plentiful and fresh, and the garlic adobo mayo the perfect amount and really great tangy-sweet taste. We would come back for the BALT alone! (4. + 5.) The spuds - both the cheese seasoning & the cajun seasoning - were small circular hashbrowns that were similar to Chick-fil-A breakfast hashbrowns --- but larger and better tasting. They also included A LOT of hashbrowns in each batch, which was a delight.
Overall, try it out - they're good people, and the...
