Craft Shoe Shop at the Kentlands Gaithersburg, MD provides awful service. The owner, Noah, is terrible in customer service. I spent over $100 of shoe repair last week the entire service was BAD! The high quality of work he promised when I dropped of my shoes last week for repair was all a hoax. He called me this past Monday to pick up my shoes, When I got to the shop, alll 3 pairs of shoes were not ready. One pair that he needed to replace the soles, paid $75, was supposed to get leather soles, he used rubber instead, Ralph Lauren, and the rubber soles were not even glued completely onto the shoes. All 3 pairs were supposedly cleaned, conditioned and polished. They were not. His had bad attitude and even told me that even if the rubber soles come off the next day, he will not be responsible to fix it because he doesn't give warranty on his work! What a bad bad job and bad customer service. I will never be going back there! It was a mistake in the...
Read moreOne of the best cobblers and shoe repair shops in the DC area. From the moment you walk in, there's no denying the smell of worked leather, the strategically focused shop lights, the absent or low music in lieu of the buzz of old machinery, the glasses hanging on the tip of the owner's nose, or his own sneakers and hands that betray someone who works all day on their feet with dexterity. Shoe repair is a great way to reduce waste by making the most out of our footwear. Tony brought life back into my boots, saving me and the environment from having to discard them. I suggest giving this store a try, you will not be...
Read morenothing but praise. if you have rebuildable shoes or boots you care about, Noe and his team should be your first and only consideration.
the work you see here was a "custom" resole, with a crepe mid-outsole and vibram lugged outsole. this type of modification has become somewhat popular in the heritage boot community, giving the lightweight cushion of christy soles, but the hard-wearing, grippy features of a lug outsole.
i did not initially get the impression that Noe had ever done something like this before. nonetheless, he was communicative and adaptable, basically allowing me to take the reins on what i wanted to see. and he delivered.
the welt stitching appears to be clean and top notch, as are the trim and finish of the new midsole and outsole(s).
be forewarned that top-quality work does not have the tendency to be speedy. but updates were routine and readily available.
go see Noe and his team and breathe some new life...
