This food was incredible!! We ordered samosas, malai kofta, chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, jalapeño and cheese naan, and garlic naan. Everything we ate was so delicious and felt like very high quality food. The food was also packaged very well - we got this food for takeout and I think Indian food is among the absolute best for takeout options. Despite our drive home, the samosas were still crispy and crunchy and the rest of our food was still beautifully warm. The samosas were delightful and the two chutneys (tamarind and cilantro, I think?) were flavorful and paired really well.
The malai kofta was also amazing. I had had croquettes on my mind for weeks, and it really hit the spot. The chicken tikka masala and butter chicken were both really flavorful and yummy as well. Next time, I’m going to order a non-chicken dish because I didn’t realize until after we finished eating that we really tunnel-visioned on chicken. Tandoori Nights has delightful non-chicken offerings as well, from paneer to veggies to lamb. The naan was really tasty - we dipped the naan in all the sauces that our food came in and didn’t leave a single drop.
While we got this food for takeout, it looked like Tandoori Nights had really great outdoor seating! There was a solid amount of tables outside where one could enjoy a summer evening without having to worry about their pandemic anxiety. I know that I, for one, am not emotionally ready to eat inside yet so having these options is reassuring.
We’ll definitely be back! Even as broke grad students, there are certain foods we are willing to shell out for and Indian food is absolutely...
Read moreI typically go for their lunch buffet. Food is delicious - as of now, overall, the best Indian food in the Kentlands areas. Kudos to the chef
The facility services and waiters are not good.
Before food, I wash my hands. Their bathroom is dimly lit, smells and is often mopped with a lot of water right before lunch time - so the floor is wet and slippery (better lighting and ventillation, better aroma in the bathroom and dry floors would help).
The waiters boss around - even for simple things like getting you a table next to a window when there are only few people in the restaurant. Waiters drop food while picking up - so one is left sitting surrounded by food dropped on the floor. When they serve water, they drop water on the table and wet the table - then you sit with water around. waiters keep asking you if you are done (again - even when there are not many people in the restaurant). We realize you'd like to bring the bill only after one is done eating, but there are better ways to figure that out. Continuously asking folks if they are done or not is not helpful.
While one goes to a restaurant for food and the food here is good, the other aspects, if taken care of would make it a...
Read moreIf you’re looking for an Indian restaurant that serves delicious garlic naan and festive tandoori chicken here at Kentlands, then I’d say give Tandoori Nights a try.
While I liked the chicken saag here, I didn’t think that the dish stood out well. Perhaps it could be because I’m so used to eating fried tofu dishes with Spanish in them. Ah well…
As for the chicken vindaloo, it was a bit spicy for me so next time, I’d pair it with raita. I know, I’m that big of a baby when it comes to spicy food, ha ha!
As for the garlic naan, it definitely was a 10 out of a 10. I loved that it had the right amount of garlic in it and it was soft on the outside and inside with some crisp on the bottom.
The rice meanwhile tasted good. It’s rice, after all. It’s nice and fluffy, which is great for curry dishes.
As for the mango lassi, I felt that it could use some cardamom, but that’s me.
All in all, though Tandoori Nights didn’t stand out too much for me, I still liked what I ordered. So if you and your friends are craving Indian food late at night, then give Tandoori Nights a go. I honestly went because a friend of mine was upset and he suggested that we go out to eat Indian food...
