McAlister's Deli — Restaurant in Galesburg

If you want to see the staff dancing and partying at night from the roads? This is the place for you. (And yes, I've witnessed that) Its clear the staff certainly feel like they can do whatever they please without any repercussions. And you can easily read other testimonies of rude or slow behavior on THIS review board. Anyone can sense or see the "clique" attitude amongst staff. Making the atmosphere very awkward whenever you hear arguing or just goofing around mockery while waiting for your food inside or out.

While the quality of food is good and mostly clean. (If they decide to wear hairnets that day) They overcharge for the quantity you receive. By all means, if you wish to pay 15$ for a salad, be my guest. But this isn't Olive Garden. Its an over glorified fast food joint trying to charge as much as the actual sit-down restaurant across the street. Their "Italian" sandwich is only two kinds of meat. Last I checked, most Italian sandwiches consist of: Capocollo, Genoa Salami, Pepperoni, Ham, and Provolone. Instead, you're just receiving a ham and salami sandwich here. 50/50 if you place an order and then hear the famous, "We're out of X, Y or Z. What else can we do?" Don't bank on dessert here.

And one might read this and say, "This seems a bit harsh?" But as said, take an extra ten minutes to read other reviews and you'll see I'm not the only one witnessing this behavior or feeling ripped off. If this restaurant ever hopes of taking off in popularity, rework the behavior of your staff, clean the place properly and take these reviews seriously. The karens posting their meals to Instagram are not going to keep your foot traffic flowing. Or ignore the issues from your customers. Cause that always works...

Update When I thought it couldn't get worse, the drive through is just for online orders. All this place had going for their less than fair food was a drive through but they say it is closed but you can order online and use it. So what they're saying is they don't want to deal with or help customers. What a crappy operation. I hope they go out of business. Galesburg wouldn't be losing anything. Go inside to order amd you will be there about an hour before you habe food. Thirty minutes or more in line and as much time waiting for food.

Disappointing. I've been to other McAlister's Delis and they were really good even though expensive. The exception to the price is the two for $7.99 menu.

The location is good and the property is nice and clean inside and out. I ordered a cold turkey sandwich and was given a grilled chicken sandwich. They switched the sandwich but microwaved the sandwich anyway, which made the bread, meat, and cheese rubbery.

The building has all hard fixtures and walls inside making it extremely loud. We couldn't hear the cashier and she couldn't hear us. The employees were friendly. The salad was good despite the sandwich issues. Their tea is excellent.

The resteraunt is easy to see from the road. To get to it, you must turn toward and go behind Aldi's and back up toward the resteraunt. Their is ample parking.

Unlike other McAlister's, if you want a drink refills you have to get back in line and wait at the cash register. This is...

I dont like to give up on places these days cuz the times are hard to find good help.. But pride in serving quality well put together food as an end result has never been good "for me" at this location.. And again, Very poor food preparation tonight. I got a simple half a cup of soup and a 1/2 sammy.. One piece of bacon, 2 wilted peices of lettuce , one spinach leaf??, and some tomatoes.. that as a line, grill, sauté and salad cook myself I wouldn't have served to anyone. (Some small white trimmings and hard end). Mayo and mustard slopped on.. And even a spinach leave in my chicken soup??. Yikes..the pickel was dry and wilted even.. sounds like alot?.. I know right? gezz.🤦‍♂️. There's just no way around it. There is a lack of supervision and quality control coming from that kitchen.. It's a shame because I've been to other McAlister's around US & Ive never had these issues.. But, this is Galesburg..... Mediocre food prep and service is common place in dining these days it seems.. hate to see this place following that trend... Lost this customer finally....
